BossaCucaNova are back and they have brought along bossa nova legend Roberto Menescal (band member Marcio Menescal’s father) for the ride. This time with Brasilidade, the collective travels down memory lane on a couple tracks such as “Garota De Ipanema and a few others by Roberto, including his hit “Bye Bye, Brasil, but don’t expect the traditional Bossa sound. BossaCucaNova are masters at taking sounds of the past and making them current. With Marcio and Alexandre’s amazingly subtle programming alongside the DJ skills of Marcelinho Dalua the band comes across as a futuristic brand of Bossa. Add the guitar skills of Roberto and you add the timeless class of the traditional side of things. They have no problem writing new material either. The track “Surfboard is a good example of the groups fine songwriting. Roberto’s guitar playing is showcased on “Surfboard. It is a welcome addition to an already fantastic group. You will find your self doing a little samba to most of the tracks which are infectious for the most part. The revolution continues with the Brazilian brand of electro Bossa Nova.
