Daniel Park is a musician that grew up in New Mexico, formerly of groups Kiss To Betray and Live Bait, has released his debut solo album, These Illusions. It is a very personal affair but overall this album is quite a bland collection of personal ballads. 

His music is very introspective, which in essence is good when it comes to pop ballads. The problem lies in that almost all 11 songs sound so much alike. Taken a song or two at a time, These Illusions should impress but when taken as an album Daniel has gathered too many of the same songs. Boredom is inevitable. 

He takes on all sides of relationship issues and incorporates much feeling and passion into his music. Ultimately tracks like "Missing You" tend to drag on and pull the listener into the din of his personal life. I found the song "Prelude" was actually my favorite. Sadly, it is an instrumental. Then it sounds like the exact song with lyrics thrown in on "DTR". The mold is broken on "Shipwrecked" where Daniel attempts to rock out. But then the gentle, emotional Daniel is back on "Change In Me".

On a more positive note, Park does have a great voice. He just needs to reach outside of his comfort zone and create some diversity in his music. Fans of Edwin McCain might find merit in Park's music.
