Don't judge a book by its cover. And quite often that applies to CDs as well. The cover of Minneapolis based act Little Man's newest offering, Of Mind and Matter looks like quite a spiritual journey. It looks like a picture of George Harrison when he was going through his India kick. But apparently it is Chris Perricelli, the "little man" assuming a meditation pose. The music is not spiritual. No this is good power pop at its finest. 

The album starts out very upbeat with the power pop oriented "Tarots and Arrows" then heads down a more classic T Rex feel with the awesome "Don't Pray To Fantasy", showing in just two songs that Little Man is much more than what the cover may suggest. In fact, the glam side of things tend to leak out on a few of the tracks. There's no denying a Bowie or Mott The Hoople influence on songs like "Get It To The Ground" and a few others. Then there are tracks that have a little more roots qualities to them like the short but bouncy "Lifted Me Like A Curse".

My advice to Little Man, get a professional designer to do your cover and re-release Of Mind And Man. You've got a great album that you don't want people to dismiss due to a shitty cover. In the meantime, do check out this album if you are a fan of the indie pop sound. It's a quality package.
