This a very unique debut album from Portland, Oregon's The Helio Sequence. It is, in essence a pop album but their are many layers involved. Sounds swirl around making it seem like they spent forever in expensive studios. Surprisingly enough, Brandon Summers and Benjamin Weikel, the two sole members of Helio Sequence, engineered, produced, mixed and mastered the entire album themselves proving that even bedroom musicians are talented. Their sound somewhat fits into the Elephant Six style but never sticks to and defining boundaries. The blast out into heavy rock sequences but always maintain control over the light vocals similar to that of so many Brit Pop bands. They have no problem melding Beatle-ish melodies with heavier rock and experimental stylings. This is definitely a band to keep an eye out for.
