Dear John is the second studio album from Swedish electronic indie rock band Loney Dear.
Unlike most electronic artists, Loney Dear creates organic atmostpheres within the computer generated sounds.
From the opening chords of "Airport Surroundings" the listener is awash with waves of electronic rhythms and pulses. Sweeping cinematics engulf you on songs like the epic "Violent".
Understated vocals, such as those on the moody "Harm", weave between the layers of samples and programming, creating a sound that puts Loney John in the same league as North American electro-indie darlings the Postal Service.
Loney Dear employ lush strings intertwined with drum machine beats to build an all-compassing sonic quilt that threatens to engulf the listener.
Flourishes such as the classy horn arrangements on the title track and the jazzy free form of "Harsh Words" add rich texture to the music.
For its elaborate and beautiful sound Dear John is a winner.
