Providence's own touring machine Daughters ups the chaos on Hell Songs, which is a big slab more noisy and grinding than their 2003 Debut on Robotic, Canada Songs. After crossing the land a few times with the likes of Melt Banana and Blood Brothers, it was only natural that some inspiration to up the sonic assault would be in the offing. But Providence loves a good crunch, and Hell Songs finds Daughters delivering just that. "Recorded in a pyramid" and "Providence by Gaslight" even feature some actual singing than on Canada Songs, which is odd, given the increase in the noise. But that only adds to the growth, and menace, shown here. "Crotch Buffet" and "The Fuck Whisperer" more than bring home the menace, in glorious sens-a-round! Daughters have staying power, and power power power.
