Champagne Champagne is a hip-hop trio formed by Pearl Dragon, who raps along side Thomas Gray, with Mark Gajadhar (drummer/founder of former Seattle band, The Blood Brothers) as DJ Gajamagic and all-in-one back up band, even playing a melodica (cross between a keyboard and harmonica) on stage. The band released the EP "Private Party" in March 2012 but this is not their first release. They formed back in 2007 in Seattle,WA and released a self-titled album in 2009 on their own, with no major label backing. In 2011, they supported STRFKR on the Reptilians tour and actually released an EP on PolyVinyl Records to commemorate their time together. 'Pagne's rhymes and raps have a hip-hop sound but they put on a show w...

The Waterboys formed in 1983 by Mike Scott. The band's membership, past and present, has been composed mainly of musicians from Scotland, Ireland and England. Edinburgh, London, Dublin, Spiddal, New York, and Findhorn have all served as homes for the group. The band has played in a number of different styles, but their music is a mix of Celtic folk music with rock and roll. After ten years of recording and touring, they dissolved in 1993 and Scott pursued a solo career. They reformed in 2000, and continue to release albums and tour worldwide. The early Waterboys sound was dubbed "The Big Music" after a song on their second album, A Pagan Place. This musical style was described ...

Chicago's Disappears (fronted by Brian Case, currently of The Ponys and formerly of 90 Day Men) are an excellent new band that rock all sorts of swirling guitar reverb. The resulting music sounds as if it's transported straight from those hazy basement club nights when little Lou Reed and crew played for their illegally blissed-out pals. These four rock out quite nicely, especially when their decibels inch extremely close to straight-up noise. Yet, even with minimal pop melodies buried beneath all the raucous effects, the prevailing mood Disappears sets is one of darkness. Something sinful is going on here. Maybe echoes have always felt evil. It's kind of the same feeling that Crystal Stilts gives. The misuc is something like shoega...

“Too slick for lo-fi, too ambitious for slacker rock, and too fun for shoegazing” - Ghettoblastermagazine.com“Capable of and committed to chasing down moments of pop and rock brilliance” - Dayton City PaperOh Condor are a four piece band from Dayton, Oh who make an attempt to blur the line a bit between indie/emo & shoegaze/noise. Pulsing rhythms and melodic washes of delay build up and give way beneath sincere and moody vocals and the beeping and buzzing of the occasional synthesizer. With the release of "Reflector," in February of 2012 on a limited edition cassette tape through Gas Daddy Go Records, word of m...

Alcest - that is music from another world, a world that is real, but that exists beyond ours and cannot be grasped by our senses. A world where all appearances - trees, glades, streams - emit a pearly light and where a faraway and celestial music fills the air like sweet perfume. A world inhabited by infinitely benevolent and protective beings of light, communicating in a wordless 'language' directly from one soul to another. A world where the soul knows neither pain nor sickness nor sorrow, but is filled with a deep peace and an ineffable bliss. A world that lies 'before' and 'after,' 'beside' and 'behind' our world and the awareness of which stills mankind's fears of death. This world is no dream and no fant...

Writing intensely personal music is nothing new for Montreal's Patrick Krief, either as a solo artist or as the longtime guitarist for The Dears, but even Krief himself was taken aback by how strongly the songs he had written for Hundred Thousand Pieces had affected him.So much so that for nearly six months, the now 32-year-old had to step away from the project, and even began writing for another album altogether. Yet the pull of those 10 songs, which dealt so earnestly with his anxieties about growing older and continuing down the financially precarious road of a professional musician, was simply too powerful to cast aside. All the music had been recorded already - all that was left was for Krief to lay down the most heartfelt vocals of...

Strange sounds brew in strange places, and Thank You Scientist is no exception.  With "more hooks than old tackle box, and more time changes than a broken pocket watch,"  the band belies their humble suburban New Jersey roots with a sound that is undeniably unique.  Boasting a seven piece band (collectively playing roughly twenty instruments) and a hyper-composed sound much indebted to the band members' experience and formal training in both classical and jazz idioms, Thank You Scientist has been mesmerizing live audiences since their inception in 2010.  Dubbed "The Top Unsigned Act in the Tri-State Area"  shortly after the release of their debut EP, "The Perils of Time Travel," the ban...

All members of Cherries On A Blacklist took a long journey and left their countries to accomplish the same goal, to grow as musicians and broaden their horizons. George, Andreas, and Malapert grew up in the island of Rhodes/Greece, whose main financial resource is tourism. On the other side of the Atlantic, Gonzo grew up in Monterrey, one of Mexico’smost important industrial cities. In order to keep playing music and reach a higher level, they realized that they would soon have to leave. They all moved to Hamburg/Germany, a city renowned for its musical background and founded the band “Cherries On A Blacklist”...

Session 606 is the brainchild of Anthony Masington. Ant Mas previously fronted the Delaware rock band, The Flatline Symphony. He was also 1/3 of Josh Eppard (drummer of Coheed and Cambria)’s 2009 band, Mours. That same year Ant Masington performed live with Eppard’s hip-hop project, Weerd Science, as the touring guitarist and back-up singer....

Jennings: Small Frame, Big Voice: The old adage “big things come in small packages” has perhaps never been more fitting for an artist than in the case of Jennings, the one-name moniker of New York based siren Mary Jennings. Standing just a shade over five feet tall, Jennings delivers a robust and heartfelt sound that is anything but small-scale. Her music reflects an enormous strength and drive that is uniquely hers, combining a deep range of rock and pop influences with an unabashed sense of vintage style that few, if any, could ever pull off. “I believe that the difference between an artist and the average person is a fearless and relentless willingness t...

The Cellophane Flowers are the masters of female-fronted, driving, quirky pop, sometimes styling their sound as “psychopop” in interviews. Their songs reflect an eclectic array of influences from tribal drumming to alt-rock to dark tinged 80’s pop and have name checked Siouxsie, Sonic Youth, The Stone Roses and Throwing Muses as influences. Time and again they throw in hook after hook to support the sublime vocals of Francesca Corradini. They have recently (January 2012) completed the recording of their debut album. The ten tracks of ‘Staring At The World’ were recorded and produced by Dave Allen. Dave’s extensive discography covers The Cure, Depeche Mode, Human League and The Charlatan...

Kevin Gullickson's decision to keep the cool moniker of his newly disbanded group Radio Drive when he launched his solo career in 2009 proved to be prophetic. Forging an uplifting, sonically eclectic vibe best described as "motivational rock," the prolific singer/songwriter's first three releases-Dream The Impossible (2009), Life Today (2010) and I Can See The World From Here-received impressive reviews around the globe and extensive airplay on online, college and indie stations in the U.S., Canada and Europe. Life Today also hit the Top 40 charts on CJSW Radio in Calgary, Canada. Expanding his rich palette of sounds even further, Gullickson's latest Radio Drive project finds the multi-talented artist firmly declaring that This Is...

20TH JANUARY 2012 "I think people are surprised when they come to see us live." says Peter Liddle, heavily tattooed frontman of London's Dry the River. "They expect us to be really calm and quiet but in some ways we're the opposite."You can see why people get confused: this five-piece band has all the hallmarks of the latest folk sensation: elemental name, beards, acoustic guitars, even a violinist. But what sets Dry the River apart is a background in hardcore and post-punk bands, hence the tattoos, lyrics that read like a Steinbeck novel and a sonic palette that sweeps from gentle to giant like an incoming storm. "Emo has become a term of derision, but originally it meant emotive hardcore...

A band that works hard to spread the message that if you aren't loud then you won't get heard. No one really ignores Alex Addy and when you put a band of allstars behind him you have a long awaited sound that this music world needs to hear. The songwriting is very unique and the live show of the Tambourine Machine is something that should not be missed. A very explosive, demanding frontman in front of a dynamic, yet explosive rhythm section makes for a band that has a future of brightness and rock n' roll. Check out Alex Addy & the Tambourine Machine's debut album released July 1, 2011 to e...

It would take a long essay to fully explain UMEK’s meaning to electronic music. The Slovenian born producer and DJ has been setting trends and rocking dance floors for two decades now -- and still shows no signs of slowing down. He’s tireless in his techno and tech house production and with more than 100 gigs per year, probably one of the busiest techno DJs out there. He’s not only been rocking our ears with his own productions for labels like Toolroom, Spinnin, Great Stuff, Intec and many more, but has also been heavily involved in choosing who to sign to his arty imprint 1605, which mostly supports young and talented artists who haven’t yet made it on the global...

Blind Melon is an American rock band active from 1989 to 1999, and from 2006 onward. The group enjoyed critical and commercial success in the early 1990s with their neo-psychedelic take on alternative rock. The 1995 death of lead vocalist Shannon Hoon halted the band's activity, and the members went on hiatus until officially disbanding in 1999. The band reformed with new lead vocalist Travis Warren in 2006, and although Warren departed two years later, he has since resumed performing with the band.Blind Melon formed in California in 1989 and signed to Capitol Records in 1991 and recorded a...

Arguably the most infamously named band in the annals of popular music -- for years, radio found their moniker unspeakable, and the press deemed it unprintable -- Butthole Surfers long reigned among the most twisted and depraved acts ever to bubble up from the American underground. Masters of calculated outrage, the group fused the sicko antics of shock rock with a distinct and chaotic mishmash of avant-garde, hardcore, and Texas psychedelia; sleazy, confrontational, and spiteful, songs like "The Revenge of Anus Presley," "Bar-B-Q Pope," and "The Shah Sleeps in Lee Harvey Oswald's Grave" seemed destined to guarantee the Buttholes little more tha...
