Angus and Julia Stone

Having spent the last two years touring the world in support of their critically acclaimed debut – A Book Like This – Angus and Julia Stone return with their eagerly anticipated sophomore release Down The Way.

On Down The Way they make their debut as producers, and develop their sound without losing the spirit of their debut. Here’s some music recommendations the duo have given us:

BOY AND BEAR – they are touring with us at the moment… and their music is beautiful… harmonies that are so exquisite… it lifts my heart every night to hear them singing… and they also are great guys… very sweet and sexy– they don’t have an album out… but they do have a single out called ‘mexican mavis’— check it out… a very good song that will no doubt begin the mad love affair with these boys.

JEZ MEAD – an album i highly recommend is —‘pickles hinder slumber’—
an album that i listened to by myself… while i was living in a room with paintings a friend had done all over the walls one night while she was acid… i remember lying in that room listening to this record and feeling alive… i could feel my heart beating– i could feel every place in my body where my heart was sending the blood… and i felt so overwhelmed- like i was right on the edge of life and death…
‘all the way on this road long…. i am following the song’

DOVEMAN – this guy is so beautiful… when i listen to him in my head phones, i close my eyes and his gentle voice sounds like he is right next to me…singing just for me….‘we’re getting older but when do you learn to say goodbye- to let time fly- live like a lullabye’…- he has two albums that are equally special ‘with my left hand i raise the dead’ and ‘the conformist’— .

MATT JOHNSON – he has recorded a couple of incredible albums of songs that he has written.

He drummed on ‘grace’ with jefft buckley……. he has played with so many great artists…. and now he is writing really beautiful songs… and incredible songwriter in his own right. his music is poignant and important… he has released a record called Cagefighter. his musicality- the structure of his chords….. the phrasing of his melodies… his combinations of words all come together to make music that is like someone standing on your heart while they touch the void— whilst talking about the chaos theory with old man river….

BRIAN CAMPEAU – the record is called ‘mostly winter, sometimes spring’ — each track he uses one instrument to create the music…. it is a really beautiful record… so many great songs.
