Dead ConfederateAugusta, GA’s Dead Confederate are heading out on a tour this summer taking the great sounds on the road with Deer Tick and Surfer Blood. Should be some great shows. Here are some artist recommendations from singer/guitarist Hardy Morris and bassist Brantley Senn.

Hardy Morris:
“I always like to include The Glands. Much underappreciated Athens, GA band. Their self-titled album has been a van staple for years!”

Cloud Nothings, Turning On. I’ve listened to this album a good bit lately. It’s kind of garage-y lo-fi, but a lot more too. Great melodies and interesting arrangements. I listen to the song “Hey, Cool Kid” twice in a row every time.

Deer Tick, The Black Dirt Sessions. They are not so unknown anymore, but I really like their new record. We listened to it a lot on our European tour and I haven’t gotten tired of it since I’ve been home. We are touring with them next month so there’s a shameless plug for you.

Brantley Senn:
Officer May – Smoking In A Minor. The band broke up a long time ago and it’s really hard to find their music. This album is one I definitely recommend to our fans. Very under appreciated.

Vic Chesnutt – At The Cut. He isn’t really that unknown but I’m surprised at how many people still haven’t really heard his music. Living in Athens, where he lived, that’s almost criminal. One of my favorite, if not absolute favorite, artists of all time. His words really cut through you. RIP Vic.
