Molly Jenson

Molly Jenson is a new singer/songwriter from California that is sure to make a splash with her lovely Maybe Tomorrow album. Here are some bands that she’s into. Check out her new album as well as some of the following.

  • Frightened Rabbit: I love the lead singers voice and he’s not afraid to sing high, which is always impressive with a guy. “Modern Leper” is my favorite song and I think these guys will have a future with their music if you’d just go out and buy their record :)
  • Emiliana Torrini: Emiliana Torrini is definitely somebody people have heard of but her new record just came out and it is blowing me away. It’s a perfect mix of quirky pop and soft melancholy love songs. I LOVE this record!
  • Miniature Tigers: My friend Darin introduced me to Miniature Tigers. I love their harmonies and their lyrics are so clever. This is the kind of music I listen to when I’m in a silly mood and want to dance around the house.
  • Pieta Brown: I’ve been a fan of Pieta’s for a long time but I don’t feel like she’s ever really gotten the love she deserves. She is a beautiful writer and singer and her live show is amazing. Check her out!
  • Harry Nilsson: He’s an oldie. Okay, he’s dead. But he’s written songs for tons of people and his records are incredible. His album “The Point” is a soundtrack to a cartoon he worked on in the 70’s. You would never know the songs were written for a cartoon because they are so intricate and quirky. This is one of my favorite records.
