Previewing a new song off The Huntington Beach based reggae/rock/hip-hop genre-bending Dirty Heads’ upcoming album, excited me. Put onto the band by fellow ME staff members (we love DH around these parts), their songs penetrate your psyche and don’t let go. A #1 Billboard single with Rome Ramirez, prior collabos with DJ Tippa Irie, Josh Freese, Matisyahu, two studio and acoustic albums later, we’re all curious (though it sounds dope so far) about this new album’s direction.

Graciously taking a studio recording break at Sonic Ranch to chat with lil ‘ol me, Jared “Dirty J” Watson shared a few tidbits about this album (which he told me is dropping in June), 40’s music, singing with Darryl Hall, working with guitarist Slash and Avenged Sevenfold’s M. Shadows, biting and tequila-drinking fans (two different groups of people but both encountered) and more.
