As a music lover, there’s nothing better than randomly finding an amazing artist/composer who puts you on to another artist/composer doing the same. Thus the way the universe guided my introduction to LA artist Low Leaf and her latest offering ‘AKASHAALAY’. Since coming into my consciousness, this new album’s been on repeat. Personally finding myself gravitating to music crossing multiple genres, Filipina Low Leaf channels ethereal spirits, merging electronica, classical, pop, world and soul effortlessly.

Chatting with Low Leaf before her recent tour to Australia and New Zealand, we connected about Lauryn Hill, the meaning behind “AKASHAALAY”- a blend of Sanskrit and Tagalog, her dream collabos with Bjork and Georgia Anne Muldrow and her touring plans. Angelenos, catch her at Mark de Clive-Lowe’s ‘CHURCH’ album release show on Saturday, May 24th at The Blue Whale. Listen to the interview soundclips (here or below) and visit Low Leaf’s site for more tour and discography info!
