Last week I jumped at the opportunity to connect with Radioinactive, a LA underground hip-hop scene vet and key member of legendary crews like the Dirty Loop collaborative, Shape Shifters and Log Cabin (which featured Murs, Eligh and Scarab who should be familiar to the Paid Dues or Rock The Bells concert-going crowd). During our convo, he schooled me on the LA 90’s underground hip-hop scene which revolved around the historic Good Life Cafe, a health food store in south central LA that had open mics rumored to have the likes of Ice Cube and Snoop Dogg also come through. I also discovered that in his career he’s gotten to open for Onyx, the Fu-Schnickens, Suicidal Tendencies, Cypress Hill, House of Pain and Eminem. Plus how could someone who’s a world traveler and has rapped in pig latin and like a goat ala George Orwell’s “Animal Farm”, not be interesting?
