This week we bring you five albums from the punk band Rise Against:
Top 5 Albums (In No Particular Order) by Rise Against
- Dead Kennedys – Plastic Surgery Disasters
I was in 6th grade when I first heard the Dead Kennedys. I was lucky enough to have an older sister who’s musical tastes trickled down to me and this was the first record of hers I really grabbed onto. I didnt know it was punk at the time, I just thought the fast musical and Jello Biafra’s voice sounded cool. - Minor Threat – Discography
Minor Threat paved the way for all hardcore bands. Although they were short lived in comparison to most bands, they left an impact that will last forever. This record also played a big part in my song writing. - Miles Davis – Kind of Blue
This is one of the best jazz records to own. “So What” is the first track and is thought by many to be one of his best songs. - Bad Religion – No Control
Bad Religion absolutely blew me away the first time I heard them. I never heard three part harmonies over punk rock done in such a refined way. They definitely have had the biggest impact on my desire to write music and that continues to this day. - The Who – Who’s Next
This was first Who record I ever owned. I listened to it every day for months. It introduced me to Keith Moon and Pete Townshend who are two of rock music’s founders and great innovators.

#’s 3 & 5 are absolutely required listening for just about anyone.
I would say that all of them are required listening. Bad Religion changed the face of punk, as did Minor Threat. Dead Kennedys were just plain awesome!
