The SMASHING PUMPKINS’ guitarist, singer, songwriter and founding member Billy Corgan has announced that drummer Jimmy Chamberlin has left the group. Chamberlin joined the band Corgan founded in Chicago in 1988 and played on all their albums except Adore (1998). Corgan will continue to write and record as SMASHING PUMPKINS with plans to head into the studio this spring.

Hmm, does that still make the band “Smashing Pumpkins” or is it just a Billy Corgan solo project now? Hasn’t Smashing Pumpkins always been Corgan’s band? How much influence have the other members had on the actual sound of the band?

it’s really just gonna be a shitshow from here :/
Oh my god Corgan will not stop shooting himself in the foot
kids take a note
Billy Corgan in the musical anti-christ
Hes in the biz only for the money and he doesnt even care about the music anymore
I hope that all the bad things in life happen to him
and no one else
Billy this, Smashing that! back in 2005 i saw jimmy chamberlin live without his vegetable torturing band of merrymen, and i must say he was better off. i say the story is about Jimmy, not some over inflated ego maniac with a voice so freaky n high pitvhed enough we put him on a pedestal.
Here’s the scenario, terrorists state i must swallow a gallon of oil or listen to billy corgan voice for 2 hours consecutively, ill take the meal.
i can listen to the first 5 pumpkins discs straight… can’t listen to zeitgeist full through once. please, corgan, stop, now!
Chamberlain was definitely a major piece of the Pumpkins’ puzzle, and to be honest, something has been missing from this band since “Mellon Collie”. So this move doesn’t really effect my opinion of the band, it only makes me dread future releases a bit more. These guys had a big impression on my younger musical self; it’s a shame to see them coming together and falling apart like this.
