Spinnerette has set June 2 as the release date for their much-anticipated debut album. The self-titled SPINNERETTE album will be released on Anthem/Universal Music Canada (UMC), the country’s leading music company, and includes thirteen new songs written by Brody Dalle and produced by Alain Johannes. This is the first Brody Dalle helmed full-length release since The Distillers’ 2003 Coral Fang album.
Brody Dalle fans got their first taste of Spinnerette with the December release of the band’s Ghetto Love EP and the Liam Lynch directed video for the title track. The EP is currently available at www.spinnerettemusic.com, iTunes, and all other DSPs.
In February, Spinnerette released a special Valentines Day “Sex Bomb” package directly to fans that included the original version of the previously unreleased track “Sex Bomb” along with the remix by UK electronic/breakbeat artist Adam Freeland on sexed up pink 7” vinyl and the stem tracks for fans to remix their own. The remix quickly became NME’s #1 ‘Essential Track of the Week’. A newly recorded version of “Sex Bomb” will be included on the forthcoming album. Also in February, Spinnerette played their first UK gigs to sold-out crowds in London inspiring NME to gush “When Dalle sings it’s with a jagged, full-throated power that pins you to the back wall….Welcome back, Brody. Rock n’roll has been a drabber place without you.”
The Spinnerette album was recorded in Los Angeles at Pink Duck, the family studio of Josh Homme & Brody Dalle, and 11 AD which is Spinnerette producer and band member Alain Johannes’ studio. In addition to Dalle and Johannes (Queens of the Stone Age, Eleven), the band line-up includes Tony Bevilacqua (The Distillers), and Jack Irons (Pearl Jam, Red Hot Chili Peppers).
Spinnerette will embark on their first North American tour this summer, with details to be announced shortly.
