Silversun Pickups stunned the world with their fuzz-laden debut album Carnavas in 2006. It’s been a long wait for their newest release, but finally, Swoon has hit the shelves and has cemented the band’s reputation. The band consists of neighborhood friends Brian Aubert (vocals), Nikki Monninger (bass), Joseph Lester (keyboards), and Christopher Guanlao (drums). After Carnavas became such a hit, the band went on an extended tour to support the album, but things weren’t all rosy when they returned. Aubert says, “It was a dark time when we got back. We had to water the relationships that we had neglected over those two years, and I think this darkness came out on our new record.” They rebuilt those relationships to create another successful record. “It can be lonely here, because the city is so disconnected,” Aubert explains, “but here you can also escape the noise of the city into your own house, your own private place. But we’re all connected by community.”
