Quicksand was a post-hardcore band from New York City and, retrospectively, one of the most influential rock acts of that era. They were led by former Gorilla Biscuits guitarist and songwriter Walter Schreifels, and the creative blueprint that Quicksand provided can still be heard in current hard rock trends.

The band released two widely-acclaimed albums in Slip and Manic Compression before disbanding in 1995. In 1997, Quicksand reunited and embarked on a successful tour in 1998 with Deftones. Towards the end of the year, they entered Carriage House Studios in nearby Stamford, Connecticut to begin work on a follow-up to Manic Compression, but tensions within the band caused them to split up for good.

Very under-appreciated band. Although I thing Slip is a better album.
Couldn’t agree with you more…it was a difficult decision….
