Equal Vision’s Pierce The Veil are finally back in the studio, readying an album for release at some point next year (2010). We caught up with one of the brothers, Vic Fuentes, to find out what he’s digging in relation to music.
Fun. -I was in love with their old band “The Format”, and they did not disappoint with their new project “Fun.” They kind of picked up where they left off and pushed things even further with their over the top production.
Thrice -This band can be described in one word, progression. They almost define the word with their ever changing catalog of albums. No one record sounds the same but each of them could stand alone as amazing records in my opinion.
Emarosa -Lead by their undeniably talented singer Jonny Craig, this band couldn’t go wrong even if they tried. Creative and intricate music over a white boy singing like he could have been the 5th member of Boyz II Men. I would keep an eye on them over the next couple years as they continue to turn heads.
Family Force 5 -Probably the best live band I have ever seen in my life. These guys put everything they have into putting on an entertaining show. It’s refreshing to see people that take pride in what they do and make the effort to create something special for their fans.
Third Eye Blind
-After six years of anticipation, they just released their long awaited new album, “Ursa Major” . After all these years, the band is still creating some of the best pop music on the planet. Somewhat progressive and always creative music over Stephen Jenkin’s dark and poetic lyrics have proven Third Eye Blind to be a timeless band.

Emarosa is incredible. Definitely surprised to see Third Eye Blind on this site, but whatever works I guess. I’m excited to check out the other 3 bands.
Lol, yeah, 3eB comes up around here from time to time. Everyone has their guilty pleasure. In fact think that’s the second time an artist on Rec 5 talked about Third Eye Blind. Its refreshing to see, if only to know artists today are honest and genuine.
Funny he should bring up Thrice, you’ll dig em for sure mountaloha. This new album is a ‘jumping point, ‘ as Emmy might refer to their latest Beggars. Emarosa is coo, I was suprised he didn’t mention side act Isles & Glaciers, but then again Vic seemed like a humbled person in a musicemissions interview a few years back. I don’t think I ever listened to Fun and will look into em
Just got the new Thrice album “Beggars” and I really do enjoy it. It’s nothing like the Thrice I heard a few years ago. I almost didn’t give it a chance because of previous listens, but I’m happy I did.
Wow, not give Thrice a chance?? Thank God you did! Check out the Alchemy Indices also, good stuff.
I haven’t tried Beggars yet. Must be missing out. I’ll track it down this weekend. Funny enough I just sent away the Family Force 5 disc I had without giving it a chance.
Its excusable mountaloha and Dennis…The last of the Alchemy, well it just wasn’t right. They were swinging in odd directions. Almost like they matured the most between the last Index and Beggars. I caught them live at Brand New last month, and I overheard a lot of ppl saying the rest of the night “who was that band that played before BN”. Any next recording is a momentum builder or killer for the band with a great band name.
O BTW, was that FF5 disco to me? lol
