Once again, Animal Collective finds its way to #1 again. Veckatimest is also a very overrated album. It might have one good song on it. On a positive note, it’s nice to see Antony and the Johnsons up there along with Japandroids. Both good selections.

I thought the Phoenix album was good, BUT, not near as good as their last. Same with The Mountaingoats. Too high on the list, maybe shouldn’t be on there at all. I really couldn’t find any value with the Flaming Lips album. Some I’ve never heard of: Girls, Drake, The Avett Brothers, Miike Snow, Brakesbrakesbrakes, and Mariachi El Bronx.

I love seeing Mastodon and Florence & The Machine on this list.

I’m a Florence & The Machine fan, but 8 seems a bit too high, but I guess that’s just nitpicking. 2009 seems like an off year for music. Anyone agree?

I did find some gems but overall, disappointing. I’m getting together a podcast for previewing 2010. It looks promising from just the scheduled albums AND rumored releases.

Man, I forgot all about the Animal collective… didnt enjoy it from a “my new favorite” standpoint, but I definitely heard a sound that is top choice…gonna listen some more and consider adding to my top ten…I cant believe I still haven’t even listened to the Wolfmother yet…read one bad review and never got around to it…Mountaingoats I missed completely, on the to do list….

Brakesbrakesbrakes really? Why does this name sound familiar…Enjoyed the Flaming Lips briefly…but not enough to earn top 10 or top 40.

I’ve got a gripe, and I’m not trying to be a hater. So ‘cuse me while I jump on my soapbox…What’s up with basically ONE HIP HOP ALBUM in the top ten and three in total? Has Spin become the spun version of Rolling Stone? I realize we’re light on Hip Hop around here, but that’s a resolution of 2010 to change … But either way, Spin is supposed to be a top three most recognized music reviews publisher in the U.S. and there is three f*cking beat records in 40…really? In a year when interscope probably sold 20 million records off three artists, three lonely Hip Hop nominee? Shame shame, Spin is lame. I had to actually look it up just to feel better about this yelp, but they just never cared enough about music to care about their list…
