Like a dang phoenix, Vulture Whale rose from the ashes of its previous incarnations, and morphed into the best American band pretending to be a British band influenced by American music since Guided By Voices. On Bamboo You, the group’s new EP and its third release since its inception, Vulture Whale combines its unique brand of eccentric rock with its love of British music.

1. Barton Carroll – If Joni Mitchell were Irish and a dude.
For you if you like a good story, twisty lyrics and an Irish flair. Better than Blitzen Trapper.
2. Titus Andronicus – Great punk rock named after a Shakespeare play. The Bard meets the Clash, and gets pissed.
3. The Protomen – The real Wyld Stallions. A dramatic concept band inspired by and expanding on the story of Mega Man, the 8 bit video game. Think Meatloaf does BladeRunner.
4. NRBQ – I am amazed at how many people have never heard of this classic band, NRBQ (New Rhythm and Blues Quartet). Get your head out of your indie rock ass, call some people to come over and get loose. One of the best party bands of all time.
5. The Dexateens – Real homemade genuine 100% natural Southern Rock at it’s finest. If it’s possible to be legendary and obscure at the same time then The Dexateens done did it . Alabama yo.
6. The Feelies – In the “keep ‘em alive” file, we have this band of cool nerds from the late 80s and early 90’s that no one out side of New Jersey talks about anymore ; and is slowly being forgotten. If you like the Velvet Underground and Luna, this is for you. I recommend the records Only Life or the Peter Buck produced The Good Earth.
