Spread the word

After seeing up and coming rock/pop/folk band Margot and the Nuclear So and So’s, I was able to hang out with them for a few minutes after their performance.  We shared some conversation over a joint:

So I’ve heard and read online that your band’s name was based on the movie The Royal Tenenbaums. My question is why that movie, what was it about it that stood out?

No, not really.  It actually doesn’t mean anything. It wasn’t based on any movie or anything.

Ok, well were any other band names considered?

No. this was the only idea ever.  We wanted to spend more time thinking about and focusing on writing and making music instead.

So you are from Indiana.  Do you eat chicken and noodles with mash potatoes?

Richard Edwards (singer): I’ve never even heard of that, what do you mean?
Chris Fry (Drummer): Of course, doesn’t everyone?

What do you worry or stress about?

We try not to do either but just focus on one step and goal at a time, right now working on the new record.

Latest video you watched on YouTube.

Hmmm probably Mr. Spriggs BBQ. It’s our favorite!

What era of music history would u like to be a part of?

60′s and 70′s, oh yeah and the 90′s were cool too.

What’s going on with pledging for new record?

We found the right one, it works for us. We have heard of similar ideas before but needed something right for us. Some friends told us about pledgemusic.com and we were reluctant and hesitant initially, we warmed up to the idea.

Can you describe your song writing inspiration and process.

Simple: we don’t write on the road.

What’s the story behind your song, “A Journalist Falls In Love With Death Row Inmate #16″?

It was based on a tv show that we were watching at the time called Ink.  It was only around for a season before it was canceled.  It was trippy.

Speaking of trippy, were any psychedelics used in making the video for “Quiet As A Mouse”?

It was something we worked on while touring we talked on the phone with our people while both being in front of our computers. We would work on it then take a break, and just put it together one piece at a time.

What is your favorite video game or cartoon?

Power Rangers, Mario Kart, and the original Legend of Zelda.

Margot and The Nuclear So and So’s are currently raising money to make their next record. You can read my review of their show here.
