The annual College Music Journal’s Music Marathon and Film Festival kicks off tomorrow, Tuesday the 18th. It will continue throughout the week until concluding on Saturday. Among the 1000 bands and artists scheduled to perform are Neon Indian, Portugal. The Man, Trash Talk, Davila 666, Braids, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, and many more. Our newest staff member, Carina, will be providing live coverage throughout this week beginning Wednesday, and providing summaries of live show reviews as well.
Tomorrow, we will feature a two part podcast, our Top 20 picks of CMJ 2011. It was so difficult to pick only 20 artists from nearly 1000. So, in the meantime, here is a Spotify playlist with 50 songs from 50 artists. All 20 of our picks from tomorrow are listed here, along with many others. Think of the podcast tomorrow as the final release for theaters (if it were a movie), and today’s Spotify playlist as the DVD with all of the deleted scenes and extras. Hope you enjoy!
Ps–if you don’t yet have a Spotify account, this just might be the best time. You can sign up for a free account to stream this playlist, and eventually all of our podcasts and playlists.
