Back in the day, when this place was crawling with forums and chats about random acts of music, we used to poll ourselves to see which release by an artist not only set them atop of the industry but stapled them in as musical gods.
Weezy has become such a staple of hip-hop culture, it can sometimes be difficult to remember hip-hop without him. Amazon.com says that with well over ten millions in sales, unquestionable street credibility, critical acclaim, industry accolades, eight Grammy nominations, and four Grammy wins, Cash Money/Universal Motown recording artist Lil Wayne has firmly laid to rest all doubt that he is anything less than the best rapper alive today. That may still be up for debate.
Lil Wayne has a new album slated out later this year, I Am Not A Human Being 2, probably around summertime. He was just in Austin for SXSW, kicking off a new partnership with Mountain Dew, who he was shooting a commercial for there. He was also promoting his brand new clothing line. Perhaps more interesting and surprising, he shows up on the new Mac Miller mixtape Macadelic, which came out Friday. He sounds great, and doesn’t use auto tune!

Love ya Benjy, you know this.. but this guy does not belong in the Sunday’s best, not by my standards, so I’ll just reserve my vote.
just my two cents.
You don’t think he’s the best rapper alive?!
WHAT?!?!?! HELL to tha no!!!
El-P
Atmosphere, for crying out loud, Eminem, Jay-Z, Musab… I could go on and on sir!
you keeping up with any of the new, emerging up and comers? Mac Miller, Childish Gambino, Rittz, Kirko Bangz, Danny Brown, Macklemore, and Machine Gun Kelly!
Mac Miller is killer, no two ways…cant stand Childish Gambino for some reaosn, havent checked out Rittz yet, Danny Brown wasn’t all that phenomenal, but either way, I’ll take quite a few of your aforementioned up and comers over Lil Wayne ANY day of the week!
Lil’ Wayne is a gremlin.
have you both listened to his older material, like the Carter II? It still stands the test of time and doesn’t sound as gimmicky as he currently does.
I’ve heard various chunks of his music and I couldn’t begin to identify the albums or the demos or whatever else. Some of it was pretty good, some terrible. I was just making a non-musical observation, anyway. :p
