According to Billboard, and now nearly every other site, System Of A Down will be touring America this year, with the opening support provided by Deftones. The pair of veteran alt rockers are joining forces for a two-week summer tour starting in August, tour dates can be found below.
Yes, I know what you are thinking, and you are so right. Although only
a short tour, this is the first extended touring for SOAD. Last year, they performed a few times on the West Coast, mainly during breaks touring both South America and Europe. Almost everyone is dying to know if, and when, they will release another record, the last being back in 2005. In the meantime, Serj Tankian is promoting his upcoming 3rd album. Harakiri will be released July 10.
As far as Deftones, fans and family are still hoping and praying for the best for bassist Chi Cheng. He has recently made some small signs of progress, as we previously reported. While his fate still hangs in the balance, the band have chosen to continue on. They will once again have Quicksand bassist Sergio Vega filling in. He also played on their last record, 2010′s well received Diamond Eyes.
