There is only one Fiona Apple in this world. Who else could attract attention at such a young age? Who else could step away from a whirlwind start to a career to not just one, but two different hiatuses and come back with as much impact. It’s suddenly as if she never went away, like she won’t ever disappear again and is finally here to stay for good once and for all.
Who else could make or name a record like The Idler Wheel is wiser than the Driver of the Screw, and Whipping Cords will serve you more than Ropes will ever do. Having just been released this week, this sci-fi like video for “Every Single Night” made its debut on the Sundance Channel. The video was shot in France, and directed by Joseph Cahill. It’s surreal and twisted imagery includes snails, bathing with turtles, dirt, a goat head, and of course the very unique, one of a kind idea: a squid hat. Words don’t do this one justice. According to Consequence Of Sound, she provided the director easy and upfront instructions: “do things to me and put me in situations and surprise me.” Tour dates listed below.
