In breaking news, the lead vocalist of Girls Christopher Owens has announced his departure from the uber popular band. Their break out record from last year, Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, led them to play Fun Fun Fun Fest, as well as sell out a ton of shows while on tour. His tweets come at a most inconvenient time, and no one is sure what this yet means. Like Cobain before him, could he be wanting to move into a new artistic direction at the height of success, or battling personal demons of drug addiction? Either way regardless, you can sense his struggle. His tweets:

“Dear all, This may come as a surprise to many & has been an issue of much thought for me. My decision was not easy to make. I am leaving Girls. My reasons at this time are personal. I need to do this in order to progress. I will continue to write & record music. More will be announced soon. I thank you all for everything. Sincerely–Christopher”
