As you may have already heard, Las Vegas’ favorite rockers are back from an extended break. The Killers‘ last record was Day & Age back in 2008. A few solo albums later, they are now gearing up to release their newest work, entitled Battle Born on September 17.  Lead frontman Brandon Flowers, bass player Mark Stoermer, and drummer Ronnie Vannucci all put out their own projects, then all reunited again in April of last year for Lollapalooza in Chile. They went into the studio shortly afterwards,

The first single has hit the interwebs.  You can listen to “Runaways” here now, and it will be on iTunes on July 17. They also recently released a teaser trailer for the new upcoming record, you can check it out here now.

The name originates from the phrase on their home state Nevada’s flag. And it also happens to double as the name of the their studio. Other songs confirmed already are “Here With Me,” “Flesh & Bone,” “Heart of a Girl” and, “Carry Me Home”, with the full tracklisting set to be confirmed in the coming weeks.

According to Gibson.com, singer Brandon Flowers last month elaborated of the of the title, saying: “In a sense, all Americans are battle born. Our ancestors came here for something better.” Drummer Ronnie Vanucci added: “It’s living up to its title. This is our difficult fourth record.” On Wednesday, Flowers spoke to BBC DJ Zane Lowe and said of “Runaways” online debut: “I’m guilty of checking, seeing what the scoop is. I want people to like it, so I’m kind of curious as to what the reaction is. I’ve always felt good about this song. It’s exciting to think that we’re gonna be playing again – we want people to hear this new stuff.”

When they get around to touring this time, they will unfortunately be without touring saxophone player and long time friend Tommy Marth, who died earlier this year.
