Following a 3+ hour gala that saw babies being kissed by the frontman of F*cked Up, an ultra-athletic male pole dancer, and announcers going on about how great the grilled cheeses being served smelled (at least on the radio stream), the 2012 Polaris Music Prize was awarded to Feist for Metals.

The Polaris Music Prize represents Canada’s best album, and is determined by a panel of more than 200 jurors made up of music journalists, bloggers and broadcasters. Metals beat out nine other albums who made the 2012 short list. Congratulations to Cadence Weapon, Cold Specks, Drake, Kathleen Edwards, F*cked Up, Grimes, Handsome Furs, Japandroids, Yamantaka // Sonic Titan, as well as the 30 others on the long list. See for the entire list of nominees, and to hear more of the great music coming out of Canada!
