Receiving an e-mail one particularly gloomy day here in LA, I instantly perked up when I read it was announcing Jack Davey’s new EP release. Jack Davey, one half of the electronic/funk/punk/rock/blues/new wave pop underground duo J*DaVeY, will whet musical appetites, releasing her new solo music in bits and pieces over the next few months- Lo Fi Side A a few weeks ago, then Side B, coming November 6th and a deluxe edition combining both EPs with three new songs on December 11. A fan of J*DaVeY, who’s opened for fellow genre-benders Prince, Erykah Badu, The Roots and Janelle MonĂ¡e, I connected with Jack to discuss these new projects, Prince memories, having her own indie label, iLLaV8r and her musical heroes. Check out the video and interview sound clips below plus peep her site, jckdvy.com, for more deets on her new EPs!
