Today Fat Tony shares the new video celebrating Brooklyn, NY, aptly titled “BKNY”, via Noisey. Featuring production from cohort Tom Cruz and directed by Ryan Muir, the video sees Tony and Cruz peddling Nutcrackers (bootleg beverages made of various hard alcohols and sweet fruit juices) for the Brooklyn boss himself, Mr. MFN eXquire. In addition to eXquire, the video features cameos from Kool AD of Das Racist, Nasty Nigel of Children of the Night, Nick Catchdubs, Dark Sister and more. The video is the first taste of Fat Tony’s forthcoming album Smart Ass Black Boy, due spring 2013 for Young One.
Fat Tony and Tom Cruz’s video for “BKNY” is more than a laid-back jam to soundtrack our memories of summers past, it’s also a helpful reminder that NYC has pretty strict public consumption of alcohol laws and you’re best off hiding that booze in an unlabeled bottle, paper bag, or at very least a coconut.
He was just announced to be part of the highly influential 2013 35 Denton festival in North Texas, the week before SXSW. You can listen to our interview with the Houston MC from last year’s Fun Fun Fun Fest (while smoking a joint!) here.
