Smoothly blending reggae, classic soul and melodic melancholy reminiscent of jazz sirens Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald and modern-day Sade and Amel Larrieux, emerging artist Sophia Bastian purrs and emotes with the best of them. In a chill mood exploring on Spotify randomly one day, I gladly found Sophia’s 2010 self-titled EP and naturally gravitated back several times.

Attracting growing media attention from MTVu, Vibe Magazine and Okayplayer, this lady’s clearly “breaking” through. Watch her videos below and listen to us discuss her series of happy musical accidents, opening for The Roots and her new Juvenile Blues EP on the way this month!
