As a fan of art exhibits and a fan of hip-hop, couldn’t be happier than when these two worlds collide. Getting an e-mail about Jurassic 5 and Ozomatli member Chali 2Na’s new art exhibit opening at Mr. Musichead Gallery on February 15th, “Against the Current”, the coffee table book and its five supporting EPs all with different styles of music which will be released on Pledge Music, I knew I would come through to support this.

I luckily got a chance to interview Chali (check it out below) before the doors opened about his spray paint, acrylic and oil paintings (he was charmingly nervous about this final reveal) ,music (loved that fellow J5 and Ozo member Cut Chemist, there to support Chali, joined in to give some details) and where he draws inspiration. It was a chill, great night kicking off Presidents’ Day weekend with Chali taking pics and warmly speaking with several of the patrons. Already knew he was a talented dude but now can confirm he’s just as nice.
