If you’re any kind of a music fan, there’s no good reason why you shouldn’t have seen Sound City, the outstanding documentary directed by Dave Grohl on the history of the legendary LA studio where countless cool albums from Fleetwood Mac to Rick Springfield to Nirvana’s Nevermind were made. Sooo…how does winning the movie on DVD sound? Pretty good, I’m sure, but your friends at Music Emissions will go one better by including a CD of Sound City: Real to Reel, the accompanying soundtrack as well as the be-all and end-all as far as collaborations go. Wanting to record on the Neve console he bought from Sound City, Grohl invited friends and other artists spanning several generations like Lee Ving, Trent Reznor and Paul McCartney to his home to jam, and the results are pure rock ear candy.
