In case you haven’t noticed, one thing that’s undeniable about Pitbull is he’s the king of music that makes you (and your ass) move, period. Another is his ability to find promising talent for his Mr. 305 label, with their own ability to follow suit and produce club-bangers. One such talent in this category is Jamie Drastik, an artist who grew up outside of NYC and worked hard to build a radio spin presence, catching the ear of Pitbull’s camp, who put his career on a path for a meteoric rise. Getting attention from Billboard and Seventeen magazines (the latter calling him a “musical crush”, le sigh), it’s obvious Jamie’s primed and poised to make his mark in the bigs. He’s been collaborating with El Jefe Pitbull, Kelly Rowland, Flo Rida and Havana Brown, with a full-length project dropping on a major label very soon. In fact, Music Emissions is premiering Jamie’s DStar Club remix of “Chasing Shadows” featuring Pitbull and Havana Brown below!
I spoke to Jamie a few weeks ago about his smart, effective approach-working with radio DJs, how he connected with Pitbull, the first record that made an impact on him (think Sticky Fingaz), his top 5 underrated artists (with a 60’s R&B surprise in there) and more! Peep the new remix and interview soundclips below!
