DELTRON 3030 RETURNS WITH DELTRON 3030: EVENT II DUE OCTOBER 1ST, 2013 VIA BULK RECORDINGS

Bulk Recordings is excited to announce the return of Deltron 3030 with the release of Deltron 3030: Event II on October 1st, 2013. The album is Deltron 3030’s long-awaited successor to their self-titled cult-classic debut. Deltron 3030 — composed of a trinity of alt-rap all-stars: rapper Del The Funky Homosapien, producer Dan “The Automator” Nakamura and DJ Kid Koala — are celebrating the announcement with the debut of the album trailer, set to the first track on the record “Stardate.” The clip, which features Joseph Gordon-Levitt, is available for posting HERE. In anticipation of Deltron 3030: Event II, the band will also release their City Rising From the Ashes EP on August 13th, 2013. Individually, the collaborators of Deltron 3030 stand at the top of their respective musical disciplines; together as Deltron 3030, they warped space, bent time, transcended genre and blew minds with Deltron 3030, an album that still stands today as one of the most important records in the annals of underground hip-hop.
Both timely and avant garde, Deltron 3030 accurately – if surrealistically – captured the spirit of the cusp of the millennium, an era when a technology-driven stock market bubble was on the verge of bursting, when the political world was entering an era of unprecedented partisanship, when global inequality was beginning to skyrocket. Critics dubbed it a masterpiece: “The most purely enjoyable hip-hop album of 2000,” NME declared. Vice praised Deltron 3030 as “a dope hip-hop concept album…visionary sci-fi rap for comic book heads, cyberpunks and conspiracy theorists that closed the gaps between indie-rap, boom bap and future-music.” “It’s not only one of the best albums in either of their catalogs, but one of the best to come out of the new underground, period,” said AllMusic.com. Pitchfork called Nakamura the “poet laureate of creepy, oppressive beats,” describing the album as an “exciting” reimagining of “the future from the bottom up” that reveals Del as a “surprisingly acute social critic.”
Del The Funky Homosapien, founder of Oakland’s seminal Hieroglyphics crew, launched his career as part of his cousin Ice Cube’s posse, da Lench Mob, and gained recognition as a top-tier hiphop verbalist with his 1991 debut, I Wish My Brother George Was Here, featuring the memorable tracks “Mistadobalina” and “Dr. Bombay.” He would release three more albums -1993’s No Need for Alarm, 1998’s Future Development and 2000’s Both Sides of the Brain – before joining with Nakamura and Koala for Deltron 3030.
Dan “The Automator” Nakamura, the architect of the sonic landscape within which Del and Koala work their magic, first captivated the hiphop underground with Dr. Octagonacologyst, his collaboration with Ultramagnetic MC’s Kool Keith. He went on to produce Cornershop’s breakout album, When I Was Born for the 7th Time, and to team up with fellow superproducer Prince Paul under the name Handsome Boy Modeling School, before forming Deltron 3030 with Del and Koala.

iGadget ft. Edo G & Stereo Boyz
“Behind The Mic” is the new video from German producer iGadget featuring Edo G and the Stereo Boyz. During their tour stop in Berlin, Germany the Stereo Boyz recorded their vocals as well as video scenes for this collabo with Edo G and iGadget (Beatevolution). The video was shot both in Berlin and Detroit. While the scenes recorded in Germany show Edo G and the Stereo Boyz in the studio as well as in the city of Berlin, you will also see shots of Downtown Detroit and the Stereo Boyz’ lab. “Behind The Mic” will appear on iGadgets album, expected to be released this fall.
Kings Of Leon
Kings Of Leon have announced their first single off #MechanicalBull “Super Soaker” will be released 7/17. The band published the single’s album cover on their Instagram . At the bottom: a live version last month at O2. It seems to have a more feverent pace, much like “Because of the Times”…
I Break Horses
Following 2011’s self-titled debut, “Denial” is a stunning glimpse of what is to come from IBH and with rumors of a new full-length coming in October this year on Bella Union, the pulses are definitely a-racing.
“Denial” and a special remix courtesy of the rather excellent RxGibbs will be released on a highly limited edition white label / white vinyl 12″ vinyl on July 13 for the UK’s Independent Label Market held in London’s Spitalfields Market.

The Self-Titled debut EP from Atlanta, GA’s Bodyfather (members of Campaign, Burners, Benard) is officially out today and available for free / pay-what-you-want download via the band’s own Money Pit Media.
Picking up where the criminally under-appreciated Benard left off, Bodyfather is the sound of wire-y tension colliding with razor-sharp angles and tangible desperation, all wrapped up in a sinuous web of discordant noise. These six barnstormers are chaotic and furious; however the thundering bass lines, tumbling drums, writhing guitars and frantic vocals do a workman-like job pounding their way through your skull and infecting your brain with undeniable rhythms and an immediacy that is usually reserved for much more overtly melodic outfits.
Recorded by Kevin Sellors (Campaign) at American Revolution Recordings and mastered by Carl Saff (Melt Banana, Young Widows, Ghosts And Vodka) at Saff Mastering in Chicago, Bodyfather is a definite must for fans of Drive Like Jehu, Unwound and Hoover.

Hailing from Savannah, GA, CUSSES is an enigmatic three piece consisting of the fiery vocalist Angel Bond, drummer Brian Lackey and guitarist Bryan Harder. Spanning 15 years, the recording career of RJD2 (aka RJ Krohn) is starting to exhibit the type of resilience generally reserved for golfers and bebop musicians. The relevance of this should not go unnoticed; it is increasingly rare for artists in the sphere of hip-hop and electronic music to maintain a presence this far into a career. This feat becomes even more impressive considering it was all done via independent labels. 2013 will see the release of More Is Than Isn’t, his 5th proper full-length LP (7th, if you count The Horror EP and 2011’s Inversions of the Colossus), on his own RJ’s Electrical Connections imprint. But before we delve into that, perhaps a quick recap of years 1-14 is in order.
RJD2’s first credit as a producer appeared in 1998 on the MHz 12″, “Rocket Science,” via Fondle ‘Em Records. Initially playing the role of a DJ/producer in a rap group, this would lay the groundwork leading to a solo record deal on Definitive Jux, the label that released RJD2’s 2002 debut, Deadringer. Both a critical and commercial success, the album’s single “Ghostwriter” appeared in numerous ads, television shows and movies. 2006-2007 saw both the move to XL Recordings for The Third Hand, as well as the release of Magnificent City with Aceyalone, which birthed one of the most recognizable songs in RJD2’s catalog, “A Beautiful Mine.” It doubles as the theme song to AMC’s “Mad Men.” But in 2009, the landscape of record labels had changed drastically since the previous decade. RJ forged ahead with a newly minted record label, a box set and plans for his fourth LP, The Colossus.
More Is Than Isn’t, his new album and the second RJD2 record on his own label, sees RJ incorporating new production techniques and approaches while still keeping an eye on the basic aesthetic that has always driven him: soulful, melodic, beat-oriented music. A largely instrumental affair, the record does feature several vocalists: Phonte Coleman (Little Brother, Foreign Exchange), Aaron Livingston (Icebird,The Roots), rappers Blueprint, P. Blackk and STS, and Khari Mateen. Conceptually, the album is tied together by three instrumental pieces that are different explorations of the same harmonic theme. It captures a dynamic range not seen before on an RJD2 album, ranging from subdued jazz-tinged pieces to bombastic club music, and a lot of funk in between.
Since last releasing an album, electronic music has continued to captivate the public’s interest and has showed no signs of ebbing. The continuation of this movement gave RJ reassurance in the endeavor of making instrumental music. “In ways, all of my previous albums were in some fashion striving to achieve something more than being ‘just instrumental music’; this is the first RJD2 album I’ve made that actually revels in a relative lack of vocals,” he states. The ethereal, beat-driven vibes of his debut album also make appearances now and again, with textural usage of gritty drum breaks, lush analog synths and his ever-distinctive use of the MPC sampler. This record truly is a culmination of years of experience as both a producer and composer, bringing to fruition a record that stands on its own within the landscape of electronic and hip-hop music today.
