Bitten by the travel bug to hit the road as temperatures rise, July is a great month to mix business with pleasure. With five months left to go before we wrap up 2014, it’s a good time take stock. How much have you achieved this year? What can you do to turn things around and make it count? Invited to a conference by the good people at SXSW, V2V (Venture to Venture) brought together business leaders, entrepreneurial artists and hopeful startup creators to discuss how to change the world.
Held in Vegas (who wouldn’t want to be at a dope new hotel when it’s 100+ degrees outside?), V2V provided the people, panels and pitch opportunities to make goals attainable. Wherever you are in creating your entertainment brand or biz, there was access to someone who could help. Whether it’s utilizing crowdfunding tools to get capital, having the bolas to take a risk (there’s always a gamble somewhere), creating a mastermind group to ensure accountability or avoiding pessimistic people trying to shoot down ideas “like the plague”, good advice and tips flowed in every session I attended. Because it wouldn’t be SXSW without music, Morgan Kibby of M83 and Richard Grewar played a memorable music showcase on Tuesday night. Participants left V2V energized, inspired and with additional tools to go forth and prosper.
