Friends, foes and readers alike, volume seven? It was a quick year in 2011, and we still haven’t compiled the best of last year, perhaps a soon-to-be podcast.

Unsigned and Wound Up of 2011

Alright, from January 15th through April 15th, we received 1200-plus submissions. An estimated 30-percent were from international acts. While I wouldn’t say this was the best crop of artists we’ve ever received, it ranks up there in some of the best.

The bad news:

Six hundred submissions were not selected, either poor quality, poor composure or just the worst band name (Oso Negro??) ever conjured? We’re only slightly kidding… Sorry, maybe next time all who submitted…

and keep music new…

The good news:

Six hundred remaining came down to 150 (or so), which was tightly reduced to 80. So from here, we ended up publishing the rest in way shape or form. So…let’s get to it.

The band was formed in 2004 by singer Cesar Saez de Nanclares, who was later joined by Trevor Wells on bass, Shea Branham on guitar, and Chris Vargas on drums. Each band member brings a unique dynamic and set of influences to the band. Their catchy rock n roll sound comes from the influence of bands as diverse as Led Zeppelin, Radiohead, the Rolling Stones, Nirvana and The Beatles.

    Hailing from Dover Delaware, Flatline Symphony have a sort of Armor For Sleep or Pierce The Veil feel… Though I’m personally don’t enjoy the vocal performance, I can still respect it as well as the phenomenal accompanying instrumentation – Off their release, “This Is What They Call Surgery”, here is Flatline Symphony “Remedial Plagiarism”
