I’ve had some pretty grandiose plans in the staff forum concerning what I’d do with this column I kind of want to setup. Then I put it on the backburner because I was moving then I put the backburner on another, much deeper backburner because the semester started, and eventually here we are. About, what, two or three months into this little blog and people have put together some 26 mixtapes? I haven’t made one post. I’m the most inconsistent reviewer this site has. I like titles, but that isn’t a good one. I also like music. While I jest and make fun of Dennis music (he likes Pitchfork-esque bands), it’s all fun and games (read: I really am not into those bands but Dennis is good people), I really have no room to talk. I’m a bigger hype machine than hipster Dennis here, as I’m into hype music like crazy. So what are the current vibes I’ve got off the interweb?

What’s Not Good

Anberlin is releasing a new CD and to frank, I wish this band wasn’t so terrible, because I’d love to get into them. But the guy’s voice is just so damn terrible. I don’t understand the phenomena that is this band. After hearing some tracks off this album, the vocals continue to be the opposite of pretty and continue to be something I will never ever purchase.

The Morning Light is also putting out an album, but more importantly, this:

I’m a nitpicker and as I already didn’t like this atrocious band, I will now mock their label for allowing fail ads like this to be released. Someone better get fired, stat.

What’s Good

The Reign of Kindo is probably the most amazing thing to happen to music this year. I love This Day & Age but if I had known that them breaking up would allow musical beauty like this to emerge, then I would have called for their disbanding years ago. Rhythm, Chord & Melody is one of the best albums to be released this, search the database for this band.

Forgive Durden’s creative mastermind Thomas Dutton spent nearly two years devising a plot for a musical and has created what sounds to be another amazing album. Razia’s Shadow is wildly inventive and though, it will be strange how it plays out say live, I’d like to see where else this goes. Rumor has it, he is in talks concerning movie rights.

Jack’s Mannequin is back with a new album, The Glass Passenger, and it’s good. Really good. That’s all.

This wasn’t as good as I had anticipated. Maybe next week, I’ll get political.
