Today Cults will debut the long awaited video for their lovelorn track “You Know What I Mean” on NPR’s All Songs Considered: http://www.npr.org/blogs/allsongs/2012/02/08/146462475/the-dark-romance-of-cults-you-know-what-i-mean

The songs “quiet/loud dynamic that ramps up the drama with every chorus” (Pitchfork) was released in early 2010 and has become the band’s crowd entrance point of no return. The video was directed by Isaiah Seret who also collaborated with the band for their controversial video for “Go Outside.” And if you look closely, you may recognize a few familiar faces…

Cults spent the majority of 2011 capturing fans with their sugary-sweet, ominous coated 60’s pop jams packaged in reverb. To reinvigorate followers in 2012, the band surreptitiously released a cover of Leonard Cohen’s “Everybody Knows” for ‘Old Ideas with New friends,’ played a sold-out NYC show with guest appearance by Freddie Gibbs on “Bad Things” and made their television debut playing “Abducted” on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon (see clips below.)

The band played a handful of east coast dates last month to which the Washington Post raved: “Less than two years later the mystique has disappeared, but a standout pop band has emerged.”

Cults, outfitted with some hypnotic visuals and a beefed up set list, will hit the road this March headlining over 30 dates across North American. The tour kicks off with a sold-out performance at Maxwell’s in Hoboken on March 2nd and sees the band making a stop at SXSW, then heading west to play San Francisco and Los Angeles, before they head back east.

In an attempt to take their approach to another level, they worked with Chevrolet as a sponsor for this new video. The end result? One California desert, 288 guitars, 55 pianos and 1,157 homemade instruments–and another one of a kind, unforgettable music video. This time it’s for their song “Needing/Getting“, and took 4 months of prep, plus 4 days to record. It all takes place in a new Chevy Sonic car.

The Kills celebrate their ten year anniversary this poignant and playful video for “The Last Goodbye“, taken from their latest album Blood Pressures. Directed by the Oscar nominated actress Samantha Morton, who made her directorial feature debut with the critically acclaimed ‘The Unloved‘, this is her first music video.

Shot in monochrome on crisp, silvery 35mm, the video reflects the beautiful simplicity of the track, with an old-school photo booth providing an intimate backdrop for Mosshart’s intense and heart-warming opening performance followed by a series of touching to-camera poses reflecting the musicians’ longstanding, spirited friendship.

The band has been on a headlining tour, with opening acts Jeff The Brotherhood and Hunters providing support. As if that weren’t enough, they also posted a beautiful six minute rockumentary filmed in London by videomaker Giorgio Testi. The short film follows the final moments as they prepare to go on stage for their headline show at Brixton Academy in London. We are also including a behind the scenes making of video, as a bonus.

Unfortunately this amazing band decided to call it quits last year. It was a controversial decision since they were at the height of their popularity. It seems like a good idea to feature them this week, since they have once again been in the news lately. A brand new full length documentary, Shut Up And Play The Hits, debuted at Sundance Film Fest and follows LCD Soundsystem for their last performance. The two filmmakers were able to shadow lead frontman James Murphy.

Are you hip to the rapper and producer The Alchemist? Probably best known for his work with Eminem and for last year working with Curren$y on Covert Coup, he just released a new record. Vodka & Ayahuasca is not only a new album, it has a great new sound. Totally different than what you are used to seeing and hearing, The Alchemist is just what the game needs. Currently he is teaming up with Curren$y aka Spitta Andretti again on a sequel mixtape to last year’s Covert Coup. It’s scheduled to drop on 4-20. Here’s the brand new video for Vodka & Ayahuasca, which has already racked up 85,000 views in the past few days. The track also has Oh No (Gangrene) featured on it. It was directed by Jason Goldwatch. And if you don’t know what Ayahuasca is google it.

Odd Future Wolfgang R&B friends The Internet have just debuted a brand new music video for their song “Fastlane“. It hasn’t even been out 24 hours yet and has already quickly gained nearly 12,000 views. Directed by Matt Alonzo, Concept by Matt Martin & Syd, Video Produced by Michael Busalacchi, Kelvin Craver & Tara Razavi (Modern Artists//Happy Place). The song itself sounds upbeat, cheery, and delightful. Of course you are in for nearly the exact opposite when watching the short film. Filled with dark imagery and violent displays of visceral intensity, it’s a haunting and superb story. The ending will remind reviewers of their 1st video, “Cocaine.”
