2014 Life Is Beautiful Festival - Day 3

After hitting hard for two straight days via Kanye, Lionel, Questlove, Outkast etc, Sunday’s Life Is Beautiful fest lineup provided a fitting end and tied an electro pop, hip-hop, soul and rock bow on an intensely fun weekend. Beginning my afternoon (yay for sleeping late) by connecting with Liz and Louie of Holychild after their set, we chatted about their crazy year, their working chemistry, dancing on tables as a toddler and going to Rolling Stones concerts at five years old (guess who did what?). Clearly this early start would provide a profound influence on what was to come for the pair.

I next peeped Dizzy Wright and Sabriel, two Vegas talents I’d interviewed previously (in case you missed them, listen below) and were greeted with dope hip-hop and soul sets. Grabbing a gourmet taco truck burrito (so good), I chilled and returned for Arctic Monkeys. Hooked from the first moment I heard “Do I Wanna Know?” last year, comments from the ladies in the audience ranged from the sexiness of lead singer Alex Turner to the crowd being sonically seduced by the smoldering way he sings. Barreling through a sultry set, I then headed to the opposite side of the fest to catch the middle of Little Dragon’s set. Mixing in old and new, they’re always fun live.

Wrapping up the weekend, I ventured back to Downtown stage to end my night with Foo Fighters. Fresh from their Letterman week takeover to promote their new album, ‘Sonic Highways’, Foo put an exclamation point on the fest by pummeling through two hours of their hit-filled set. The audience roared back the lyrics and definitely appreciated the moment as Dave acknowledged it’d been a while since he played Vegas (six years, to be exact). Concluding with the crowd-pleaser “Everlong”, we all dragged our tired asses home grateful and ready to do it all again in 2015.
