Indie music’s current buzz worthy poster girl of the moment seems to be Lana Del Rey. You may or may not be aware that all the way back in 2010, the young artist released her first record.  It came out in her real name, Lizzy Grant. Most have pointed out that the soon to be released Born To Die is not her debut album.  She has just announced that the first will be remade later this year.

“People act like it’s so shrouded in mystery, the ‘forgotten terrible album’,” she said, in an interview with BBC Newsbeat. “But if you look on YouTube, all 13 tracks are available with millions of views, so it’s not like no-one’s heard them. We were all proud of it. It’s pretty good. I’m re-releasing it, maybe in late summer,” she said.  “I had signed to an independent label but they couldn’t fund the release of it,” Del Rey told BBC Newsbeat.

According to NME, the album cost $10,000 (£6363) to record and was produced by David Kahne (Regina Spektor). It was available on iTunes for two months before being taken down. Of course Born To die will be released this week, as the singer just performed on SNL recently, and prepares for her appearance at SXSW.
