Do you have exciting plans for New Year’s Eve yet? If so, you may want to cancel them. Wayne Cohen, the always exciting and never predictable frontman of The Flaming Lips, has been teasing fans on Twitter all week long. The band many thought had already passed their prime are probably more popular now than ever before. Perhaps best known for their unique and unorthodox music and live shows, this year they took it up a notch by releasing singles on USB that came inside of a gummy skull, and collaborating with others like Neon Indian and Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros.

They usually have a special New Year’s Eve show, but this year, their 5th in a row, will be made even more special. The end of the year extravaganza will feature both the Lips and also the one and only Yoko Ono Plastic Ono Band. It happens in Oklahoma City, and there will be 2 shows: one on NYE, and the other on Sunday January 01, 2012. General admission tickets went on sale today for $100, and you can purchase here.

Update: Phantogram will be providing opening support!
