It’s always great to see the music year unfold. These albums wowed me with the musical prowess exhibited by the artists. I’m eager to see how much listening pleasure these discs bring me in the years to come.

  • 1. Withered Hand-“New Gods”
  • downloadwithered

This album showed the diversity of styles Dan Wilson excels at and provides solid evidence he’s a major artist.

  • 2. EMA – “The Future’s Void”
  • Here’s a case of tracks winning me over with a good sound. Sometimes I wish the singing was better, but the rocking and the hooks are well-timed and welcome.

  • 3. Future Island-“Singles”
  • ficoversikngles

There’s a classic rock sound enmeshed in the tracks, providing rewards for each listen. Part of the fun is focusing on the vocals.

  • 4. Jenny Lewis-“The Voyager”
  • Emotional turmoil is present throughout, but the hooks keep coming. Pop with an edge keeps things from getting lightweight or dull.

  • 5.Parquet Courts – “Sunbathing Animal”
  • Their status as a remarkable garage band remains intact. Now they can rock on longer songs, too.

    6. Metronomy- “Love Letters”

The music reels you in, and it’s hard to resist. It can get dancey or it can rock. It never strays from the parameters of good art.

  • 7. Tune-Yards-“Nikki Nack”
  • The skills make it easier to accept the lyrical miscues. Merrill Garbus’ singing is exceptional.

  • 8. Slow Club – “Complete Surrender”
  • slowclub

A winning sound doesn’t have to be formulaic. It’s not a requirement to draw comparisons to Roy Orbison or John Lennon, but it helps.

  • 9. No Age-“An Object”
  • Parquet Courts doesn’t have the market cornered on the garage sound. They can find some melody to vary things, too.

  • 10. Nicole Atkins-“Slow Phaser”
  • A venture into pop yields another triumph. And her trademark humor, makes it all the more memorable.

I just have a question. How do you post embedded spotify and sound cloud players on the site? Thanks for any help.
