The first 15 days of Indie Of The Year are over. Though we would love to cover the entire 50+ artists vying for IOTY, there simply is not enough time.  However, how about a summary of what voters are saying about the top fifteen leaders in these first 15 days?

Artist – Votes

1. Back up Johnny – 59
lifeguardkate Said:

Talented and energetic, with a strong presence and the ability to connect with a crowd, Backup Johnny appeals to persons young and old, and fans of all genres of music.

2. Wedlock – 57
msjulie2003 Said:

I think the end result in “Continuity” shows up in the sheer tightness and cohesion of the tracks

3. Kwame Tona -45
mcfubb Said:

The production is incredible, Tona’s flow is sick and his lyrics are deep.

4. My Cousin The Emperor -33
deaddrjones Said:

Catchy alt-country. It stood out among all the other bands that I have heard on here.

5. June’s Not Faking -22

humbug52 Said:

Junes Not Faking have come together to polish off their punk and make it gleam with a hint of good natured pop mentality

6. Vacuity -17

Matias Said:

The music is very tight with an obviously great understanding between the bandmates, the singers voice with a very fitting with the subject. Certainly a well crafted peice of art that can and does speak to all of us in the western culture of comfort.

7. Vonrenzo -15

NoAFs Said:

This album is an outstanding emotional rollercoaster. The band is clever in its delivery of mocking great lyrics of lost love with mostly upbeat music.

8. The Dead Girls -12

Archelon Said:

Quite creative, useful with rhythm and quite moody. Music to drive to on a sunny day

9. Roslyn -12

10. Experience.Hold. -9

11.  Paper Cranes -9

Archelon Said:

Musically, it’s very good. Lyrically, it’s also very good – clever, a little sarcastic and perfectly delivered by Ryan McCullagh. It’s a little remeniscent of Pavement on Prozac.

12. Groove Generator -7

tesshoc Said:

It’s not often you come across an album that provides music to suit every mood. Groove Got Phat is able to do just that: upbeat when you’re buzzing, mellow when you’re chilling. Always a great vibe.

13. Ursa -4

14. Sipo -4

15. Gr3ta -3

Just an FYI, not accusing anyone. BUT! If you’re caught giving artists bad ratings cause you’re a fanatic of another band, you’ll be given the boot from this website. I’ve seen the webmaster tolerate a lot less and ban their account. Please, everyone keep indie spirit alive, don’t kill it.

I agree. I noticed ALOT of that going on at the higher ranks of the table and think that is just weak. In my opinion, it should be EXTREMELY difficult to think that a band deserves a 1/10. Especially since the quality of recordings in the top 10 are of at least good quality. I can see giving a band or group a 4, but a 1, 2, or 3? Come on…

Definitely parking our cars in the same garage tmoore…It really doesn’t matter much, the winner is by vote… even after the contest, these ratings stick.. it’s just in poor taste to low-ball a rating.

I agree. Please rate a fellow band accordingly. Rating without even listening is completely unfair. A 1/10 is for something completely intolerable and that no person in their right mind would even listen to.
