This is a breaking news story still developing. Earlier tonight on Friday, Kings of Leon were scheduled to stop in Dallas, TX, as part of their on going summer tour supporting Come Around Sundown. Band of Horses opened the show and everything was completely normal. KOL then preceded through about 40 minutes of their set before lead singer Caleb Followill exited the stage suddenly and unnannounced. Some in the crowd could be heard chanting kings of rip off and kind of rip off. His brother and band mate Jared Followill posted a cryptic message on twitter:

“Dallas, I cannot begin to tell you how sorry I am. There are internal sicknesses & problems that have needed to be addressed. No words.”

Unfortunately no one is sure what this means for future of the group, short term or long term.  It could have simply been a bit of heat exhaustion.  However, if that were true, his brother’s message wouldn’t make sense.  They were scheduled to play in Houston Saturday night, then were planning to head to Florida and the east coast before heading west. It has just been announced that the Houston show tonight is canceled also. The band is booked solid throught the rest of the year. We are currently and actively attempting to reach out to their management and publicists, so there is not any official statement regarding this yet.  As you can probably imagine, the diverse reactions of the audience have been driving traffic across youtube and social networking websites.

Here is video footage from their show in Dallas last year that we shot:

This is some video of the show tonight from twitter from someone who was there:

Further research in the morning brought up this video of Caleb clearly uninterested in his future with Kings Of Leon…followed by the band apologizing for his behavior

Update #1: Livenation has confirmed the band will make up both shows in Dallas and Houston in September. They will honor original tickets that were purchased, yet have not commented on the option of refunds. Although Livenation is trying to present this as a bad night and one time mistake, it still doesn’t explain the mysterious tweet of Caleb’s brother Jared. And not sure about everyone else, but my hunch is that KOL fans in Texas will never feel the same for the band again.

Update #2: Jared Followill seems to be the lone voice of sanity here. Taking to Twitter again over the weekend, he had the following to say: “I love our fans so much. I know you guys aren’t stupid. I can’t lie. There are problems in our band bigger than not drinking enough Gatorade.”

Update #3: They just canceled the remainder of the tour.

Update #4: The saga continues. Now their management is trying to remove the YouTube video clips. So if the videos on this page don’t work any longer, you at least know why. Read more here.

the guy who posted that last video can defend Caleb all he wants, but it’s clear what was going on… they’ve lost at least one fan.

Keep that drama crap out of the shows. How unprofessional.

It appears Caleb has realized he can be replaced. After two shows, reportedly things are better than ever for KOL

Jared had this to say on his twitter recently. “The Kings are back in business. Business is good. Really good.”
