Emily Estefan has released her new song “Ask Me To,” along with the Spanish Version “Si Lo Pides Tu” via Perez Hilton. The song is the third released off her upcoming debut LP, Take Whatever You Want, following “F#CK To Be” and “Reigns (every night)”. Take Whatever You Want (Alien Shrimp Records/RED Distribution) is set to be released on February 3rd and available for preorder now with an instant download of all previously released tracks. “Ask Me To” and “Si Lo Pides Tu” are now available on Spotify and iTunes.
About her new song, Estefan says, “‘Ask Me To’ marks a moment in my life when I opened the door to a new path. A path that leads to the person I want to be. It is an exchange of love and a transition into adulthood that could only be granted from my former self to my new self. “Ask Me To” is a sonic representation of me bleeding an emotion and a moment that took me 18 years to overcome.”
Emily’s most recent single, “Reigns (every night),” – premiered with SPIN – mixes smooth vocals with deep bass lines in an atmospheric jazzy soundscape. In 2015, her first original track and video “F#ck To Be,” celebrating her individuality and the importance of not conforming to society’s expectations, premiered on Entertainment Tonight followed by another original song, “I Just Want It To Be Over,” which she performed at Miami Beach’s 100th Birthday Celebration and was featured on the Today show.
Growing up surrounded by music, Emily naturally developed a deep passion for the craft at a very young age. That passion grew as she did. Through hard work and dedication, she graduated from Boston’s prestigious Berklee College of Music in May 2016, earning a degree in contemporary writing and production. Her musical journey to date is one paved with love and respect.

Dr. Sinha’s Jazz Lobotomy
Melding RnB infused hip-hop with heady jazz influences and indie pop, brand new Melbourne project Dr Sinha’s Jazz Lobotomy tackle anxiety as a result of social expectations of masculinity in their debut single ‘Grown Man’.
Flirting with influences like BadBadNotGood and Mick Jenkins, this isn’t straight-up jazz. It’s jazz carefully excavated, inspected, studied, sampled and manipulated. It’s jazz research for the modern listener. A secondary resource for the jazz-curious. Touching on social ideals of what masculinity means and how detrimental this can be, ‘Grown Man’ is an incisive take that never loses its glibness – complete with shoutout to David Attenborough.
When the quintet are in a room together, it goes a little something like this: band leader & guitarist/vocalist Chinmay Sinha writes largely about identity and/or anxiety (“I don’t really have much else going on,” he asserts). Then the Jazz Lobotomy add their personal flavours on top, drawing from years of collective experience. Also comprised of lead vocalist and established jazz singer Emily Merrett, multi-instrumentalist James Jablonka on bass, Ryan Evans (drums) and Phoebe Elsworth (keys), the Lobotomy explore culture and identity in today’s Australia.
Following the success of cuts like ‘Tear You Down’ and ‘Surrounded’, Hobart’s Chase City turn a sharp corner into electrifying new territory with their Rolling Stone Australia-premiered new single ‘Cycle.’. This is the third single from their forthcoming long-awaited debut album, due in June – and the band are currently on the road for a run of summer shows with dates spanning four states.
Taking cues from musical giants like Kasabian and LCD Soundsystem, ‘Cycle.’ is a helter-skelter track that’s just little rough around the edges. Produced by Magoo (Regurgitator, The Jungle Giants), ‘Cycle.’ allows for the dawning of a new era for Chase City, who can no longer be pigeonholed as “surf rock” – they’ve landed firmly on fresh new sonic territory that melds groove with grit.
This sophisticated, self-assured sound of ‘Cycle.’ is thanks to constant touring, writing and boundary-pushing. They’ve embarked on no less than seven national tours with sold out shows in capital cities, supported the likes of Gang of Youths, Dune Rats, Northeast Party House and Boo Seeka, and received triple j airplay for four of their previous singles.
‘Cycle.’ is released Friday 3 February 2017.
King Black Acid
Veteran international rock band King Black Acid will release new EP titled Twin Flames on March 3, 2017. The new EP ventures deep into the smooth dreamy sounds of mid 1970’s album rock while telling timeless haunting ghost stories about love, drugs and the consciousness of humans and their effect on the planet earth. King Black Acid has been long known for their film soundtracks and film scores. They do not hold back on incorporating these dreamy cinematic musical themes into their rock & roll songs. Fans of Neil Young’s Crazy Horse, Pink Floyd, Spiritualized, Wire, and 1970’s FM radio should appreciate the effort made here.
King Black Acid has been making mind expanding music since the early 1990’s and call Portland, Oregon home. Twin Flames was recorded at Mazinga Studios in Portland and will be released on Portland’s own Cavity Search Records (Elliott Smith, Hazel, Heatmiser, and The Helio Sequence).
Emerging rapper / singer Brooke Candy releases Living Out Loud featuring seven time Grammy nominee Sia today at all digital providers (click here to listen). The track was produced by Jesse Shatkin (Sia’s Chandelier, Kelly Clarkson) and written by Geoffrey Early (Ziggy Marley, Beyoncé, David Guetta), Priscilla “Priscilla Renea” Hamilton (Rihanna, Fifth Harmony), Sia and Greg Kurstin (Adele, P!nk, Beck).
Living Out Loud is the first official single from Brooke’s upcoming debut album Daddy Issues which is set for release in Spring 2017.
After unleashing two incendiary singles ‘Plucker’ and ‘Don’t Love ft. Georgia Rose’ in 2016, Melbourne rapper, poet and spoken word artist Kudos returns with a title track single, a debut EP, a tri-state launch tour and a timely message: Give.
The EP centers on worldly introspection, serving as a pertinent reminder that however personal an experience might feel, there are hundreds or thousands of people who are going through the same. Inspired by Kudos’ personal and creative journey after leaving his hometown on the Sunshine Coast for metropolis Melbourne, the Give EP unpacks sexuality, hesitation, guilt, self-care, solidarity, and social expectations. Produced by Yuri Tobler with mixing/mastering by Ben Kramp (Illy, M-Phazes), it’s a sophisticated debut that melds Tobler’s quirky, layered production with Kudos’ indestructable flow.
Highlighted on this debut is its title track ‘Give’, the third single from this release. Aimed at those who have trouble breaking through a barrier of self-doubt, the track encourages all to relinquish misgivings and allow their hearts to “denounce your head”. Driven by urgent, quasi-tropical production, ‘Give’ (single) dreams of a culture of self-possession, where all are encouraged to pursue their passions with fervor.
Kudos’ previous singles saw him ink a booking deal with PS Music Group and gain airplay on FBi, RRR and 4ZZZ along with stamps of approval from local music media giants Tone Deaf, The Music, and international outlets. He has spent years honing his craft, performing on the street and practicing his flow while jumping rope, ensuring he never misses a beat. His insight led him to present a Ted X talk on creative space, and he’s shared stages with the likes of Atmosphere, Spit Syndicate, Mantra and Tijuana Cartel.
Give EP & title track single are out Saturday 4 February 2017. Kudos’ Give EP launch tour begins on Saturday 4 March 2017.
The Unlikely Candidates
Fort Worth, TX alternative rock band, The Unlikely Candidates will release Bed Of Liars, a six-song EP, on February 17, 2017 – the band is currently streaming the entire EP on their website and on soundcloud now – listen HERE.
Having built a strong following, winning over fans in every city they play in with their infectious songs, the band signed to Another Century Records in 2016 and hit Alternative Rock radio with two singles, “Your Love Could Start a War” (over 2 Million Plays On Spotify) and “Ringer”, which is currently top 40 at Alternative Radio.
The Unlikely Candidates are headlining their “The People’s Choice” tour beginning February 17 in Tulsa, OK (dates below) and will be playing SXSW – more info coming soon. The last time they played SXSW they were mentioned in The New York Times as one of the dozen bands to watch and Esquire Magazine in their “The SXSW 2014 Bands You Need to Hear, A-Z” piece. Vanyaland described them in a piece about their “five new favorite rock and roll bands after leaving Austin” as “…a better, cooler Kings of Leon.” Elsewhere, Perez Hilton said “This American band sounds a lot like Mumford And Sons with a bit more fun!”
The band has played Bonnaroo, Firefly, Riot Fest and have toured with St. Lucia, Nothing But Thieves, Weathers, and The Moth & The Flame. Most recently, The Unlikely Candidates were selected as part of Taco Bell’s Feed The Beat program, and “Ringer” has enjoyed extensive in-store play with major brands including Whole Foods and Guess Jeans stores nationwide.
Bed Of Liars is available for pre-order on iTunes and Amazon, including an instant download of “Ringer,” and will launch on all major music streaming services on street date.
Having worked with the likes of Peter Gabriel, Sting, Ane Brun, Jennie Abrahamson and Maia Hirasawa, Linnea Olsson leaves no trace of doubt regarding the high level of her talent as well as musicianship.
Being supported by the likes of The New York Times and The 405, Linnea’s much praised sonic journey within the “cello driven fantasy pop” continues in the shape of her upcoming new single “Hall Of Tragedy”. “Hall Of Tragedy” is almost like an indie-cello track, beautiful yet gutsy and coated with Linnea’s warm feel! The boldly monochrome and minimalistic palette works perfectly for Linnea’s cello playing, which instantly brings Emiliana Torrini, Joanna Newsom and Stina Nordenstam to mind. Her vocals, however, channel a mix of Kate Bush and Kimbra, and adding a lot of attitude to this piece of music.
Soft, beautiful and fragrant to the ear, “Hall Of Tragedy” will be out everywhere 10th February, and the upcoming EP “For Show” will be out 24th of February.
Following the release of their acclaimed debut album, Swiss duo From Kid return to the fold with their sophomore LP ‘Favourite Storm’. Leading the way is the enticing single ‘New Gods’ out 17th February.
‘New Gods’ starts off with a warm, inviting vocal melody, instilling the innate sense of endearing intimacy that is laced throughout From Kid’s previous offerings. The track is restrained yet gripping. An unassuming guitar bounces gently throughout, working in harmony with the coy keyboard and atmospheric synths, painting a vast landscape to match the wondrous nature in which it was recorded. It’s no surprise that the relationship between human and nature marks a key element in the new From Kid, which might also explain the opening lyric “Earth no longer accepts our presence with silence.” Speaking about the track the band have said “In the song it is mother earth speaking to the human race, expressing its displeasure and showing power.”
The haunting visuals were filmed in a stunning forest veiled by a blanket of snow and far removed from the everyday urban chaos. The video juxtaposes the warmth and comfort of the track as the lone character meanders desperately through the chilling landscape before collapsing to his knees before the camera pans away; perhaps to demonstrate just how small we really are in this grandiose world.
The second full-length project ‘Favourite Storm’ saw the band remove themselves from the hectic hustle and bustle of city life and was recorded in the tranquility of the remote Graubünden mountain village Lohn. Dealing with the contrast between a man-made world and a wild natural world, the album ebbs and flows like a stormy night. Sometimes gentle and vulnerable like nature after a violent storm, then loud and melancholy like a hurricane sweeping over the forest; From Kid have created a more personal, bold body of work than that of its predecessor ‘You Can Have All The Wonders’.
Consisting of Andrin Berchtold and Gian Reto Camenisch, From Kid’s debut album saw them race into the top ten of the Swiss album charts in 2015 as well as being nominated for both ‘Best Emerging Act’ at the Swiss Talent Awards and ‘Best Breaking Act’ at the Swiss Music Awards. Their success not only lies in their native country but support from renowned tastemaker sites such as Nothing But Hope And Passion, Pause Musicale and The 405 saw them climb to the top of the Hype Machine popular chart, garnering recognition on an international scale.
‘New Gods’ is the perfect introduction to From Kid’s forthcoming album and is a sincere piece of music that showcases Berchtold’s inherent talent for writing charming songs that bring to mind the meandering, brooding character of Wild Beasts. With the album out later this year we cannot wait to see where the duo’s beguiling journey takes them in 2017.
Chilean singer-songwriter Yael Meyer, who has received a flood of international acclaim with her infused mixture of electronica, pop and folk, announced that she will release new music this year. Meyer will also be playing SXSW as well as dates in select markets throughout the United States this year (details TBA).
Meyer released Warrior Heart in 2014 under her own label KLI Records and received rave reviews from all over the globe including grabbing the attention of NPR’s Felix Contreras (co-host of Alt.Latino) and Jasmine Garsd as one of their “musical treasures we uncovered.” The Wall Street Journal premiered the video for the title track “Warrior Heart” in which they said the singer “Pairs Strength, Vulnerability” – Watch it HERE. Entertainment Weekly premiered the song “Human Divine” calling it, “…bouncy, ebullient electropop that should appeal to the considerable number of people who are still waiting for Grimes to write another ‘Oblivion.’” – Listen HERE. The haunting song “The Hunt,” with its video shot in the beautiful Andes – watch it HERE, premiered on The CW show Reign.
Internationally, Rolling Stone Argentina named her “one of the 5 female Chilean musicians to know” and was named one of the 100 most influential young leaders of her native, Chile by El Mercurio, the most respected daily newspaper in the country. In a joint venture between her KLI Records and Warner Music Korea, Meyer broke into the Korean market with her singles “All Around Me” and “Tiny Nose” which peaked at #2 and #3 respectively in the pop digital sales ranking. The same year Yael penned the song “When You Hold Me Tight” for the second season of the Korean drama Healer. The song appears as the title theme for the main character in the series.
Meyer’s new music should arrive later this year. She will be co-producing this new album with producer Bill Lefler (Dashboard Confessional, Ingrid Michaelson), who she worked with on Warrior Heart, as well as other producers. She’s written and recorded songs in Los Angeles, Santiago, and Sydney. Meyer says, “This album is much more raw, much more guitar heavy, with bigger distortions and disruptive sounds, while still maintaining the quality that I have always wanted to generate with music which is to take people through different emotions and hopefully inspire some interesting visuals in their minds.”
A graduate of Berklee College of Music in Boston, Meyer has performed on stages and festivals around the world including C/O POP Cologne (Germany), Lollapalooza (Chile), Gustock (Chile), Pulsar (Chile), Sziget (Hungary), AM-PM “AMérica Por su Música” (Cuba), BAFIM (Argentina) and many more and lead extensive solo tours through the United States. Her music has been heard around the globe having appeared on films and ads for brands such a Blackberry and Ralph Lauren, TV series such as “Reign,” “Parenthood,” “Private Practice,” “Drop Dead Diva,” etc. and several MTV shows.

Koria Kitten Riot
Helsinki-based indie rock band Koria Kitten Riot return to the fold after the release of lead single ‘The Earth Will Spin Around’ with their new album ‘Songs of Hope and Science’ out now on VILD Recordings.
This album has come just in time, after a turbulent 2016, Koria Kitten Riot want to remind us all that the planet Earth will keep revolving and the Sun will keep rising every morning. They count their main influences among Elliot Smith, Neutral Milk Hotel and Wilco and speaking on the new album singer Antti Reikko explains “I wanted to make music that would give hope, as hope was what I longed for myself. I am not religious. Instead, I researched string theory, quantum physics and space and found our lack of knowledge about the universe comforting. Science became another key theme for the album, alongside hope.”
Swedes are well known for their forward thinking in design, fashion, healthy living and of course music. Their latest export, in the form of electronic-pop Vanbot, has been the talk of the town already. By distinguishing herself with Ester Ideskog’s hooky melodies, memorable song-writing and striking vocals, Vanbot is all about the highest level of pop craftsmanship.
Supported by The Guardian, Nylon Magazine, The Times, Stereogum, Pop Justice, NME, Wonderland Magazine to name a few, Ester is now ready to release a fresh new single ‘Collide (Krasnoyarsk)’. Produced by Johannes Berglund (The Knife, I Break Horses, Lykke Li, FKA Twigs ) and Petter Winnberg (Amason), traveling inside the Trans-Siberian Railway.
‘Collide (Krasnoyarsk)’ begins a new chapter in Vanbot’s musical journey by making this record less polished and more expansive on the production front. Whilst being noticeably led with its electronic beat, from the word ‘go’ the song incorporates spacious and brooding undertones in the style of Phantogram. Highlighted with a Poliça-esque electro-noir shade of colour, Vanbot knows just how to add ethereal authority around the edges to its very straight forward Annie and Noonie Bao-like pop structure.
Ester says: “’Collide (Krasnoyarsk)’ was written after four days on the Trans-Siberian Railway, traveling through the deepest parts of Siberia. The temperature was just above zero, it was raining and we were passing through small villages and old industrial communities. It describes the collisions and the attractions in relationships, and having no choice but to accept the raw and un-retouched feelings. You know, it’s like the poem of David Jones: ‘It’s both a blessing and a curse to feel everything so very deeply’.”
Taken from her forth-coming ‘Siberia’ album (out April’17), ’Collide (Krasnoyarsk)’ is out NOW and distributed via Sony Music Sweden.
On the first day of their European “You Are Part Of This Tour 2017” DEEZ NUTS are releasing “Purgatory”, the first song and video taken from their upcoming album, “Binge & Purgatory”, which is set for a release April 7, 2017. If you order a digital copy of the album via iTunes or Amazon you get instant access to “Purgatory”, check the following link for available options, more including bundles will follow shortly: http://smarturl.it/DeezNutsBP
Jenn Grant has shared a new single, Paradise,” off her upcoming album of the same name. The track debuted via Consequence Of Sound who note, “there is beauty and magic to go around in Grant’s latest track, an exploration of the human spirit that splits the difference between epic and intimate.” Jenn told Consequence Of Sound the single, “when I sing this song, I picture a spirit in the trees, and a couple who are planting seeds like they are wishes deep into the earth. A couple who is struggling with the heights of pain and sorrow but are surrounded by beauty and magic.”
Grant’s new album will be released via Ba Da Bing Records on March 3. Today’s single is the follow up to “Galaxies” of which Stereogum said Jenn is “creating something that’s both a bit familiar and a little otherworldly” and Baeble noted “it delivered so much hope, and her voice…is strong and comforting…it feels like she’s opening up her arms to you.”
With this new single Jenn is excited to announce her first tour in support of Paradise. The tour will see her play North America, the UK and Ireland with dates kicking off March 9 at New York City’s Rockwood Music Hall and concluding May 24 in Dublin, IR. The full list of shows is below.
Paradise is the follow up to 2014’s Compostela which earned Grant two Juno nominations in her native Canada — for both Songwriter as well as Contemporary Album of the Year. Grant and husband, producer Daniel Ledwell, took a year in their home studio to craft Paradise. Compostela, was written after the loss of her mother and whereas that record was “of the stars” and based on her own personal experience of loss, Paradise points the compass towards the epic and intimate. It marks her most adventurous and deliberate work she’s ever done.
The two years of crafting and shaping, interrupted occasionally by the journeys of a busy touring musician on the road, gives Paradise a new dimension of sonic beauty and melodic landscapes that touches upon balladry, R&B and Electronic music along the way. Grant notes, “I also thought about my singing much more. I feel like I am a completely different artist from when I began performing. I don’t feel like I really heard my own voice until recently.”
Belgian artist Warhaus is pleased to reveal the video for his latest single ‘Machinery’. Premiered exclusively on Dazed Digital, the video was directed by fashion photographer Willy Vanderperre, known for his campaign work with Prada, Christian Dior, Raf Simons and Jil Sander among other celebrated designers. Speaking about the video, Vanderperre says, “We went for a location that we all have been to in our lives, a party we all were at one point as well. It could be a wedding or an office party. The night is over, smoke in the back of the room. This guy goes on stage to sing a song. He has had all night to find the courage to do so. Maybe tries to impress a girl. He sings and tries to be smooth, which makes him vulnerably sexy. There is a certain discomfort in his moves.”
Warhaus is the artistic alter ego and solo recording project of Maarten Devoldere – who. along with Jinte Deprez, fronts the urbanely soulful Belgian rock band Balthazar.
‘Machinery’, Devoldere explains, “Is about not being in control, about being consumed by love and excess, as if to ask to let me off the hook for a night. Lots of songs on the album are about trying to seem on top while being at the mercy of a woman. We wanted to imply that duality in the performance of the video.”
Available now from Play it Again Sam, “We Fucked a Flame Into Being” is a direct quote from DH Lawrence’s classic erotic novel, Lady Chatterley’s Lover, which Devoldere declares was “too good to pass on!” It is indeed a fitting title for an album where every song celebrates the inscrutability of encounters and pays tribute to the decadence and intensity that life can offer.
Although Devoldere has up until now kept his Warhaus persona well under the radar, the rare glimpses offered up to this point have conjured up a darkly esoteric lyrical universe, fuelled by desire and love, haunted by a hunger for the fleeting, yearning to express the unsayable; We Fucked A Flame Into Being probes such depths savagely.
“I love contradictions,” asserts Devoldere. “They are musically very appealing to me: raw vs. fundamentally passionate, brutal vs. romantic, art vs. Kitsch, archaic vs. modern”. The French sixties, a touch of exoticism, a careless apathy:Leonard Cohen and Serge Gainsbourg are never far away, as We Fucked a Flame Into Being cleverly coalesces fifty years of music history.
“I’m at the end of my twenties now. With this record I close an important period,” Devoldere divulges. “It’s an ode to love, to its excesses and elusiveness. Though love songs are a form of advertising: you portray a woman and the listener should fall in love with her too.”
