Tera Wray Static

WayneStaticMemorial-1285

Via Blabbermouth.Net

Tera Wray Static, the widow of STATIC-X frontman and founder Wayne Static and former adult film star, was found dead late last night of an apparent suicide, a longtime associate of Wayne has confirmed to BLABBERMOUTH.NET. She was 33 years old.

According to AVN, Wray, who was born Tera Lents, met Wayne during the Ozzfest tour in 2007 when she was modeling for Hustler lingerie. They were married in January 2008 and she retired from porn in August of that year.

A friend of Tera’s named Rik Marin posted the following message in the comments section on BLABBERMOUTH.NET’s Facebook page: “I spent all day yesterday with Tara [sic]. We had lunch hung out and talked about life without Wayne she show no indication that she was going to take her life. She did talk about fighting the depression for the past 2 years since Wayne had passed..I was shocked when I got the call at 1 am that she had passed.. Instead of hating we should all be happy that Tara had made Wayne so happy he really loved Tera. And put in a track of EVIL DISCO and remember Wayne and the woman he loved…it’s really hard for us friends of Wayne n Tera to read these comments..keep Disco EVIL in remembrance of Wayne. I loved you both an will miss are good times at the Dirthouse..”

Adult entertainment attorney Michael Fattorosi tweeted: “I’m so sad today. My client & friend Tera Wray, former Pornstar and the widow of Wayne Static committed suicide yesterday. We were emailing back & forth on Tuesday. And today I got a call from her roommate letting me know what happened. Tera is once again with the love of her life, Wayne, & will be forever. May they both find peace together for all of eternity. Godspeed Tera” Michael Fattorosi added on Facebook: “She was one of the sweetest girls in the industry. It’s sounds cliche but she had a lightness about her. Always happy always smiling…”

Ben Rector will be performing his infectious, super-sized pop anthem “Brand New” on national TV for the first time on TODAY as Elvis Duran’s Artist of The Month with Kathie Lee and Hoda on Friday, January 22. The single is the title-track off of his latest album, out now via Aptly Named Recordings, distributed and marketed by ROAR/Caroline/Capitol Music Group. Upon its release, the album debuted in the Top 10 on the Billboard 200 Chart at #9, #6 on the Billboard Album Sales Chart, #1 on the iTunes Singer/Songwriter Albums, and #3 on the iTunes Top Albums.

Sirius-XM/The Pulse led the charge on “Brand New,” first playing the single in early September 2015 immediately following the album release, and the station has continued to have success with it into 2016. The track officially hit Adult Top 40 radio waves on January 11 with an impressive number of stations around the country adding it to their playlists, and resulting in over 30 new stations* already spinning the anthemic track.

Violent Femmes

Legendary American band Violent Femmes premiered the first song, “Memory,” from their long-awaited and highly anticipated new record We Can Do Anything, due out March 4 on [PIAS]. The irresistible track stands out as vintage Violent Femmes, and is one of the many new songs featured on We Can Do Anything that were chosen from singer/songwriter/guitarist Gordon Gano’s voluminous archives of ancient cassette demos and old journals. NPR premiered “Memory” earlier today, and fans can pre-order the album now.

“There was a massive amount of material to draw from,” Gano says. “I had so many cassette tapes, with songs and musical ideas recorded over 20 years or more. First we had to bring them into the digital world as to be able to access them and then it was just an incredible amount of listening. We did a whole lot of compiling and discovering forgotten songs.” Violent Femmes intend to celebrate the new album by spending significant time on the road, lighting it up for a fervent following that now encompasses multiple generations of fans. Though it will come as no surprise to the band’s legion of loyal supporters, We Can Do Anything affirms Violent Femmes as a vital and contemporary musical force, its joyous sound and ageless energy suggesting the universe will be graced with more music before the passing of another decade.

Sci-Fi Romance

unspecified

“I came across this odd, beautiful, totally strange 1950s marketing film,” SCI-FI ROMANCE’s Vance Kotrla tells UNDER THE GUN REVIEW. “As I watched it, it kept getting weirder and more surreal, but I started seeing how I might be able to craft a new story from what was there.” Which is exactly what the Los Angeles alt-rock/Americana trio did in their latest music video for “If I Fell.” The first single off of their album upcoming album Dust Among The Stars (out January 2016), the video premiere below.

Aside from his music endeavors in Sci-Fi Romance, Kotrla is also a published author and cult film critic, which helped inspire the music video. “I love 1950s ephemera, and found footage, and retro-futurism — what people of the past thought the future would look like — and this video was just a lucky opportunity to mix all those things,” Kotrla notes. “Now I can’t hear or play the song without thinking of the video. A happy accident, but I’ll take it.”

“This album was a hard-fought son of a bitch,” says Kotrla, “I’m proud we never gave up on it.” The album features a variety of Kotrla’s influences, showcasing his incredible ability to emote precisely what his feelings were in certain moments of his life. On “Pale Blue Dot”, Kotrla found inspiration in the famous photo of Earth taken by Voyager I before it left the solar system. “It’s the kind of picture that, when you see it, it has the ability to change you.” Kotrla describes. “That’s not such a bad thing to write a song about, if you ask me.” ‘Shakespeare’s Lovers’features help from the likes of award-winning opera singer,Kristin Vogel. “She’s sung in The Magic Flute, La Boheme, and I Pagliacci and has all these awards… and now she’s on aSci-Fi Romance record. I’m still k ind of amazed,” says Kotrla. Sci-Fi Romance is an alt-folk/Americana band from Los Angeles, led by singer-songwriter Kotrla. With a lineup of guitar, drums, and cello, the band’s dark, textured sound is evocative of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, American Records-era Johnny Cash, and contemporary folk-influenced acts like The Decemberists or Iron & Wine. Their third studio album, Dust Among The Stars, will be released in January 2016.

BLITZEN TRAPPER RELEASE ‘MYSTERY AND WONDER’ EP

Acclaimed Portland, Oregon rock quintet Blitzen Trapper will tour across Europe this year including dates in London and Brighton. To celebrate they are releasing new EP ‘Mystery And Wonder’ today lead by the track of the same name from last years critically acclaimed album “All Across This Land”. Alongside the stunning title track, the EP also features the band’s own version of traditional tune “I Am A Man Of Constant Sorrow” which they were asked to record specifically for US TV show Fargo and a satisfyingly raw live version of ‘Let The Cards Fall’ as a taster of what the shows will be like: Awesome!

Blitzen Trapper has built a solid reputation as a band unafraid to take chances. By incorporating a vast array of influences, they have released albums that touch on indie folk/rock, roots, art rock, alt country, psychedelia and pop, while maintaining a sound that is distinctly Blitzen Trapper. The band may have experimented successfully with a multitude of styles; however, the band has been built on a strong foundation as, above all else, a ROCK band. Their live shows consistently reinforce that fact, and those who have experienced their performance would agree.
