Seryn

The long-awaited follow-up to Seryn’s debut, This Is Where We Are, will be independently released on February 17, 2015. The new album, Shadow Shows, was recorded in Denton, TX at Redwood Studio with engineer/producer/drummer McKenzie Smith (Sarah Jaffe, St. Vincent, Sondre Lerche, Regina Spektor, Midlake). The sound on Shadow Shows expands upon the folk-rock vibe showcased on This Is Where We Are by introducing more of a progressive-rock feel and energy to the new album.

Since the release of the band’s debut effort in 2011, Seryn has undergone various changes, including a move from Denton to Nashville, as well as changes in lineup, label, and management. While these obstacles challenged the group’s staying power, they ultimately strengthened the core focus and direction of Seryn.

Over the past few years Seryn has been privileged to share the stage with incredible musicians including Twin Forks, The Head & The Heart, Polyphonic Spree, and The Walkmen. The strong reception to Seryn’s debut album was showcased by enthusiastic support from both local and national publications. NPR’s All Songs Considered included Seryn in its ‘Bands That Should Be Bigger’ feature, and PASTE Magazine ranked the group in its ‘Best Bands of 2011.’

The first track released from Shadow Shows is “Disappear,” which was premiered by PASTE Magazine and released in April of 2014. Shadow Shows is available for pre-order beginning today at serynsound.com/shadowshows, and at iTunes on January 27th.

“We literally spend months and months piecing together the exact right mix of artists for Rocklahoma each year,” commented Joe Litvag, co-executive producer of the festival for AEG Live. “Linkin Park and Slayer happen to be two of the most requested artists by the fans of Rocklahoma to play, so to get them both at the same time is a major coup. But surrounding them with the exact right element of bands that span the spectrum of classic to current and metal to lighter rock, that’s the key. This year’s lineup has that perfect balance with a little something for everyone”.

A Rocklahoma ticket pre-sale is underway now until Monday, January 26 at Noon CST at www.rocklahoma.com. Special pre-sale prices are available for Weekend General Admission tickets, Weekend Reserved tickets and Weekend VIP tickets. Campgrounds open on Monday, May 18 and will remain open until Noon on Monday, May 25.

In a review of last year’s festival, Jerry Wofford of Tulsa World noted, “While the three days of hard rock and heavy metal bring tens of thousands of people to this field in Pryor, it’s the rock community that keeps so many of them coming back year after year…the first thing people say when asked why they keep coming back: It’s the atmosphere. It’s the people, the hard rock and heavy metal community [May 25, 2014].”

Rocklahoma is part of the World’s Loudest Month festival series which features the biggest names in rock music performing in eight distinct concert atmospheres across the country in April and May.

Rocklahoma is located just 45 minutes northeast of Tulsa, in Pryor, OK. The “Catch the Fever” Festival Grounds is a premier destination for a multi-day festival and includes onsite camping with access to restrooms and shower house, a general store for campers, VIP reserved seating, hospitality areas and much more.

Rocklahoma is proud to be supported by Bud Light, Hard Rock Casino Tulsa, Jack Daniel’s, Zippo Encore, ROUTE 66 RV, and Jägermeister.

The Decemberists have released their seventh studio album, What a Terrible World, What a Beautiful World, today January 20, 2015 with the city of Portland, Oregon declaring the date “Decemberists Day.” Portland’s mayor Charlie Hales will present the band with the below proclamation at a City Hall ceremony at 2:00pm today. The free event features a performance by the band and the unveiling of a collaborative art piece inspired by the album that was created by 50 local Portland artists and small businesses.

The Decemberists, who will perform on Jimmy Kimmel Live on January 22, have also announced additional U.S. tour dates including performances at the Greek Theatres in Berkeley (May 1) and Los Angeles (May 2), a co-headlining show with Spoon at Red Rocks Amphitheatre near Denver (May 27), and a hometown outdoor show at Edgefield near Portland (July 10). See below for a full itinerary or visit thedecemberists.com.

The syndicated radio show Sound Opinions declared What a Terrible World, What a Beautiful World “the first masterpiece of 2015,” adding that The Decemberists are “one of the most important bands of the last decade and a half.” In a rave 4-star review Rolling Stone observed that after their hiatus they sound like “a band refreshed, enriching its trademark folk rock with Seventies pop plushness and hooks.” RELIX claimed that “The Decemberists sound liberated,” noting that the album’s “overall breadth is breathtaking.” Listen to Colin Meloy interviewed yesterday on NPR Morning Edition.

The Decemberists’ What a Terrible World, What a Beautiful World is the follow-up to 2011’s The King Is Dead, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and featured the GRAMMY-nominated song “Down By The Water.” The new album can be found at thedecemberists.com, where an exclusive deluxe set and t-shirt bundles are available in addition to the album in all formats, and at iTunes.com/thedecemberists. Produced by The Decemberists and long-time collaborator Tucker Martine (My Morning Jacket, Neko Case), it’s the group’s most varied and dynamic work yet. The album’s lead single “Make You Better” continues its ascent into the Top 5 of the Triple-A radio charts this week. THE SKINTS join Easy Star Records!

Why do we do what we do at Easy Star Records? It is for the privilege and opportunity to work with bands like The Skints. We are extremely excited to announce the signing of The Skints to the label and the release of their incredible new album on March 9th (UK/EU) and March 10th (USA). We have been admirers of the band for several years and have tracked their fast rise in the UK and European music scenes over that time; their new album is a game changer that holds special meaning for Easy Star because it connects to so much of what we are and what we love. Their keen understanding of reggae’s past is evident throughout the album, while it also forges ahead into new and uncharted territories, helping set the stage for reggae’s future. Needless to say, we can’t wait to share it with you! Stay tuned for more info on the album and the concept behind it in the weeks to come. Much respect to The Skints… yeah, let’s do this!

Pop Evil

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: January 22, 2015

POP EVIL ENTER STUDIO WITH PRODUCER ADAM KASPER TO
BEGIN WORK ON ALL NEW LP DUE OUT SUMMER 2015
POP EVIL will enter Studio Litho and London Bridge Studios with veteran producer Adam Kasper to begin work on an all new LP due out this summer. Kasper, who has produced mega-hit records for bands like Pearl Jam, Soundgarden and Foo Fighters, it was an easy choice for the band to make. “It was very important to us to choose a producer that has the credentials” says frontman Leigh Kakaty. “We also had a distinct vision on where the band could move forward and take our sound into the future. With the success of our last record we wanted to challenge ourselves and explore new and creative ways of musical expression”.

“Individually, these guys are all great players and writers,” says Kasper. “Collectively they are a force to be reckoned with. Musically this record is intricate, heavy and melodic. With their charismatic lead singer and a drummer that sounds like John Bohnam and Dave Grohl’s love child, I’m more than excited about this one.”

The yet to be titled effort will be the highly anticipated follow up to the band’s previous LP, ONYX (#39 on the Billboard Top 200 and #9 on the Independent) that was released in 2013 and recently reached 115,000 copies sold domestically – a feat not easily accomplished in the current state of rock. ONYX also produced four Top 10 singles on the Active Rock Chart with three of them reaching number one with its tracks: “Trenches,” “Deal with the Devil” and “Torn to Pieces.”

The band has been doing regular updates from the studio via their Facebook page. They also have plans to release a handful of behind the scenes studio videos exclusively through revolvermag.com in the coming weeks.

Pop Evil released a video to say thank you to all their fans who made ONYX a success over the last year and a half. Click HERE to watch.
Since ONYX was released, the band have played over 250 shows in support. Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar Festival alongside GODSMACK, supporting STONE SOUR in the U.S. and FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH in Europe were just some of the highlights from last year. The band also made headlines with their memorable Rock on the Range Festival performance in Columbus, OH. Not only did they perform “Trenches” with Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member Darryl “D.M.C.” McDaniels, but the band brought 13 Marines on stage showcasing the Lima Company Eyes of Freedom Memorial to stand behind them during the performance.

Displaying

By the time 2014 came to a close, the band found their songs atop the year end charts at Billboard Magazine. “Torn to Pieces” landed at #7 on the “Top Mainstream Rock Songs” while POP EVIL themselves came in at #4 on the “Mainstream Rock Artists” chart.
