Danish project Masasolo caught everybody’s attention last year with the debut EP “Breakup”. US national radio station KCRW had their debut single ‘Really Thought She Loved Me’ as track of the day and the track was furthermore picked for Danish magazine Soundvenue’s top 10 hit list of 2016. The potential was obvious and the same year Masasolo was booked for the famous Roskilde Festival.

Masasolo have been featured on Hype Machine’s top 50 and blogs like Hillydilly and Indie Shuffle. The UK blog Jajaja even picked Masasolo as one of 5 Danish bands to keep an eye on in 2017.

Danish vocalist and guitar player Morten Søgaard Andersen is the man behind Masasolo, where the band works as an outlet for musical experimentation, as well as a personal diary of the joys and pains of being a dreamer entering adulthood. Masasolo has a distinct guitar-driven indie sound and could be compared to Connan Mockasin, Unknown Mortal Orchestra and Mac Demarco.

Masasolo is now ready to release a new maxi single of two songs from a forthcoming album. First track “Idaho” unravels a story of the intoxication of being in love. The track explains the duality of suddenly falling in love with someone, feeling happy and lucky but also being sentimental and stressed, not being able to handle it. “And To Know This” deals with the gloomy feelings of regret and remorse of letting someone close down. In this way the two songs together constitue their own storyline.

Both songs are produced by Morten himself and Caspar Hesselager from Palace Winter.

Little Mammoths

Little Mammoths are a London-based Rock’n’Roll Bar Band formed in 2014, that continue charging down the vein of The Hold Steady, Drive-by Truckers and Wilco.

Comprised of Matt Owens (ex-Noah & The Whale) and some of his oldest friends, Olly Cox on bass and James Besley on drums, now neatly rounded off by renowned pedal steel player Joe Harvey-Whyte, this band have the sort of chemistry most can only dream of.

Their debut album ‘Phantom Dreams’ was recently released on vinyl in the Spring of 2017, featuring a set of raucous songs about nightly lock-ins the band were privy to over three years of touring the West Coast of Ireland and The Scottish Highlands. Their raw energy prompted Texan legend Ray Wylie Hubbard to declare: “If your ears dig gnawing on the gritty sounds from a young, dirty, cool rock band, I just found Little Mammoths who satisfy the craving…”

The quartet’s constant gigging and tireless work ethic often result in straight sets in excess of four hours, and has seen their road-hardened material performed to ecstatic crowds alongside Mumford & Sons, Fat White Family and Bahamas and at international festivals including Wilderness, Loopallu and The Clonakilty Guitar Festival.

Little Mammoths will release their eagerly anticipated second album ‘Cargo for The Road’ this summer, with pedal steel player Joe Harvey-Whyte now firmly in the fold and backed by a 3-piece horn section. The band are set promote the record through 2017 with extensive touring around Europe, and a full UK festival run, including Glastonbury.

Dates kick off with a pre-Glastonbury warm up at Michael Eavis’ favourite watering hole the Pilton Working Men’s Club on April 29th where Little Mammoths have been booked to play an astonishing 8 hour set which will take their entire repertoire of, not only, their own material from both albums, but also covers by everyone from Radiohead and Foo Fighters, to Townes Van Zant and Wilco. As a bonus, all the proceeds will be going towards raising money for WaterAid in this epic Glastonbury launch party.

Singer/guitarist Matt explains the long sets becoming the norm, “As we started to tour in a lot of far out places across Ireland and Scotland, you’d get paid, fed and put up if you could play for three hours, as you were the only band the venue needed to book that night. Initially it was born out of necessity, but we found it to be a great driving force to write more music and it’s when we started really improving as a band, learning all our favourite songs we couldn’t yet play. We’d be driving from gig to gig listening to music, a track would come on we all loved and we’d say to each other, “we should get this one on up for tonight,” so we did. We still do it now. We’ve now got a set list that’s well over 100 songs, and it’s always great to look down at the setlist and see if it’s not yours, the next song is instead one of your favourite songs of all time.”

He further recounts about these groundbreaking mammoth sets which have given them the reputation as being dubbed ‘The Hardest Working Band in Rock’n’Roll’ out on the West Coast of Ireland, “What’s great is you when see all the regulars come in the afternoon, unsuspecting at the start of the set, have to eventually leave cos they said they’d be home for dinner, and then you see them sneak back in later out that evening to watch you encore for a few more hours. Then there are those that just stay for the duration and you’re literally watching them have an eight hour session right in front of you. I just can’t wait ‘til we’ve got 8 hours of all ‘Mammoths originals, but we’re working on that….”

Northwest Indiana’s Cloakroom have announced that their second album Time Well is set for an August 18 release on CD/2xLP/Digital formats, marking the band’s debut for the esteemed Relapse Records. Grandiose and deeply insular, Time Well is a work that transcends simple genre descriptors as the trio prove dually capable of conjuring lumbering walls of sound as well as forlorn Americana (as predicted by a recent Songs: Ohia cover the band posted to Bandcamp). Cloakroom occupies a space between worlds, crafting its unique brand of thoughtfully heavy music, something Relapse has long specialized in.

Time Well will be released worldwide August 18 on CD/2xLP/Digital via Relapse Records. Physical pre-orders and exclusive bundles are currently available via at this location and digital pre-orders are available via Bandcamp HERE.

For the new album, the trio (consisting of vocalist-guitarist Doyle Martin, bassist Robert Markos, and drummer Brian Busch) opted to explore their shared creative space by building their own studio, transforming their practice space into a sonic laboratory in which they could immerse themselves in every aspect of the creative process. Once the studio had completed its transition it became a workspace that was essential to the creation of Time Well, sheltering the band from the outside world as they immersed themselves in the songs and pushed sounds to their furthest limits.

Be The Bear

Be The Bear is a one-woman industry – a fiercely independent female artist and producer, writing and recording her own songs in her commercial studio in Gothenburg, home to her own record label Loud Attic Records and publishing company. Be The Bear’s debut single ‘Erupt’ is a spectacular representation of this young gifted Swedish talent, who has the confidence to create music in an uncompromisingly unique way.

The alias Be The Bear derives from Christina’s childhood fear of bears and recurring cold-sweat nightmares. “I used to dream about them every night, chasing me up old wooden staircases. When dreams come back again and again, I think it’s because you’re trying to deal with something. I wasn’t facing my fears and challenging myself.” Christina adopted the totem of the wild bear, creating a powerful musical persona for herself. When asked about Erupt, Christina states: “Erupt is my ode to new places in life and an invocation to the fearlessness in all of us. It’s about the learning experience of transporting strong emotions into something physical”.

This Norse alt pop epic builds from a whisper into an inspiring vocal performance that is guaranteed to give you goose bumps. Accompanied by a 60-piece string orchestra, Christina’s voice is at once intimate, passionate and cathartic with an honesty reminiscent of Aurora and Emiliana Torrini, rising to an explosive and uplifting Björk and Susanne Sundfør. Christina’s work is in huge demand with music supervisors and sync companies, having already featured in several high profile global ad campaigns.

Erupt is a milestone of an effervescent artist, and will be out on Christina’s label- Loud Attic Records, through Kobalt. It will be in all the usual places Friday 9th June 2017.

Lord Haiti

roll up

Known for his multi music influences, music producer Lord Haiti drops another banging instrumental “Roll Up.” This song gives off electronic neo- soul guitar tunes infused with a slight hip-hop bass kick. It samples the lyrics of 90’s Hip Hop duo Method and Red Man’s “How High”. While giving off 90’s vibes, Roll Up makes you bop your head giving you a euphoric feeling matched with the melody. Lord Haiti dedicates this new single to the “Thinkers” putting his fans in a chill mode.

The Tambo Rays

yes and no square no text

In examining the sound, story and circumstances injected into Oakland-based indie-pop-rock band The Tambo Rays’ new EP, you would be hard pressed to come up with a more fitting title than Recharge. The project has been on again off again since its inception in 2012 by founder Brian DaMert (guitar, vox) who soon found an immediately furthered kinship with his sister, Sara (lead vox), who joined with no previous musical experience. Joined by Greg Sellin (bass/ back vox) and Bob Jakubs (drums), The Tambo Rays would soon go on to release their debut EP, Kaleidoscope.

The momentum would be quickly interrupted, however, as the DaMert’s and Sellin found success as members of WATERS with the failing health of Brian and Sara’s father weighing on them through his passing in 2015. “The past two years have been a healing process,” shares Brian. “Writing music was a form of therapy during these turbulent times, what came out of it was this EP.”

With Recharge, The Tambo Rays craft buoyant, sun-soaked pop-rock as Sara’s infectious vocals and energy spring out like the prismatic light structures their father was famous for creating in the 70s. The EPs five life-affirming tracks respond to the uncertainties we all face with radiant positivity and saccharine, driving pop-rock reminiscent of golden-era Blondie. The EP also marks the band’s first release with Lisa Weiss (keys) who joined in 2016.

Look for Recharge out July 17th via OIM Records and be sure to follow The Tambo Rays on any of their social channels detailed below.

The Wrecks

Los Angeles alternative rock band The Wrecks will be on the road this summer in support of their We Are The Wrecks EP joining All Time Low, SWMRS, Night Riots and Waterparks for “The Young Renegades Tour.” The 29-date tour begins June 30 in Houston, TX and includes a stop at Central Park SummerStage in New York on July 31. “We’re so stoked that All Time Low asked us to come out with them this summer,” said the band “and we’re looking forward to playing stages that size for the first time. We can’t wait to get back out on the road again, as we’ve been mostly cramped inside writing new material and working on our set for the past few months. It’s refreshing to see such a good mix of genres in the lineup, as well. We’re gonna bring it 110% every night and we’re confident the crowds will, too.”

The Wrecks, three-song EP, We Are The Wrecks, listen HERE, features “Favorite Liar,” a song that caught the attention of Jeff Reagan at SiriusXM’s Alt Nation and reached top #5 on their Alt-18 countdown for weeks. It’s currently top 40 at Alternative Radio and has almost 5.5 Million streams on Spotify; The live video has garnered almost 400,000 views on YouTube. Watch it HERE. Alternative Press recently premiered the official video, watch it HERE. The band told the magazine, “We shot this music video before we got signed. We had very little money, and only a few hours to spare over the course of two days while on tour. When we got signed we never thought this would see the light of day, but here we are. We didn’t want to do a typical performance video, so we went the other direction. Maybe a little too far. Here’s four-and-a-half minutes of your life you will never get back.”

The Wrecks recorded their debut EP on a whim when they heard the news that a friend had been granted access to a professional recording studio for just a few days. With zero budget, limited recording experience, and less than a week as a band under their belts, the group set out to write and record the best songs that they could in three days. A few sleepless nights and several cases of Red Bull later, the EP was cut. Little did the band know, they were not even allowed to be in the studio that week. As the owner’s ex-wife was on her way to the studio, they were told they had just minutes to leave without a trace. The band quickly cleaned every bit of evidence from the computer, every crumb of Dominoes from the couch, and they were off with their entire EP on a hard drive in a backpack.

Heavily influenced by groups such as The Pixies, The Strokes, Weezer, and Vampire Weekend, this 5-piece isn’t afraid to blend undeniably catchy choruses, with lyrics and vocals that have an underlying substance and a certain quirk that give them their young, signature sound. They have played the Alt Nation Tour with The Hunna, Night Riots, and Shelter and have played dates with Nothing But Thieves. The Wrecks are Nick Anderson (Vocals), Aaron Kelley (Bass), Nick Schmidt (Guitar), Westen Weiss (Guitar), and Billy Nally (Drums).

Strange Cages

Strange Cages_2017

Brighton trio Strange Cages returned this June with their head-spinningly epic new EP ‘The Cracks’, out through Vallance Records. With a frenetic, snotty, psych-surf rock ‘n’ roll sound in the vein of The Cramps or Ty Segall, Strange Cages have already been making big strides in their short existence, quickly gaining support from the likes of Clash Magazine, NME, Q Magazine, The 405 and The Line of Best Fit, whilst tearing up stages in support of King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Night Beats, and Boogarins.

Having followed up their Theo Verney produced debut ‘Desert’ with the single ‘Pony’, the trio released their new 6-track EP ‘The Cracks’ on Vallance Records this June 16th. Combining elements of krautrock and post-punk with a paranoid, schizophrenic vocal, Brighton has unearthed another gem in a city currently producing some of the most exciting acts in the UK at the moment.

Strange Cages EP ‘The Cracks’ is out now through Vallance Records.

Throw the Fight followed the album with the 2013-released The Vault EP, which also landed on Billboard’s Heatseekers and Alternative New Artist charts.

“We wanted to return when we had that fire going again. After releasing Farveblind’s debut single “Wasteful Talk” featuring Australian Clea in January 2017, the eccentric producer duo are now ready to release their second single “Indima” featuring South African singer Khaya N9.

Behind Farveblind is the two musicians Jens Asger Lykkeboe Mouritzen and Magnus Pilgaard Grønnebæk, who despite of the short life of Farveblind, already have gotten significant positive attention and established themselves, in electronic circles, as an intense, energetic and talented act with great potential. Just in 2016 the duo played shows at Distortion, SPOT Festival, Trailerpark, Reeperbahn, Sørveiv and a total of three times at Smukfest including the opening of the biggest stage on the festival (Bøgescenen) amongst others. During 2017 Farveblind have already played a total of five concerts at SPOT Festival, two shows at Distortion and is announced for Roskilde Festival, Smukfest, MS dockville and others.

“Dark dance soul, that kicks you right where it feels good” is how Farveblind themselves describe their second single. The duo, who at the moment have been attracting Danish and international eyes and ears to their heavy club pop songs, did not have any doubt when they heard Khaya N9’s powerful and soul-like voice for the first time: He had to be their next featured artist. Conquering their second continent with Khaya N9, Farveblind continue their search for unexplored talent all around the world, and flew the young South African singer all the way to Denmark to perform “Indima” for the first time with Farveblind at SPOT Festival at the enormous SCC stage. The word “Indima” comes from Zulu and defines ‘the need to do something’.

“Indima” brings back memories from real berlin-basement raves and combines it with the soul like, warm vocals from Khaya N9. The exciting combination of soft and embracing vocals with the hard-hitting repetitive track makes “Indima” an enchanting track, with an urban and dusty pop-like mood.

Kansas Smitty’s House Band

Leave all your preconceptions at the door this is Kansas Smitty’s House Band. Since their last studio album, the band have headlined and sold out shows at Ronnie Scott’s, the Jazz Cafe, and the Shoreditch Town Hall and became proprietors of their own bar.

The music contained on new single ‘MOVIN ON’ is not without influence. Imagine a head-on collision of the sonic worlds of Louis Armstrong, Charles Mingus, Curtis Mayfield, Brad Mehldau, and Willie Nelson. Don’t get ideas though, this sour mash of jazz genres is steeped to perfection, making the the KSHB’s music very much their own.

‘MOVIN ON’ is also to be the title track of their forthcoming new album due later this year. It presents a searing rock n roll number fronted by Lewis Durham of Kitty, Daisy And Lewis and though it will appeal instantly to jazz and blues audiences its energy inevitably also leaps out of those genre boundaries with barn storming hooky rhythmic elements and a tasty readily accessible hook that anyone could fall in love with.

Kansas Smitty’s House Band loves company and has inducted a host of performers into their scene down at their East End London bar. The band features leader Giacomo Smith with the KSHB steadfast lineup of Pete Horsfall, Adrian Cox, Theon Cross, Pedro Segundo, Joe Webb, Ferg Ireland and Dave Archer while the shortlist of internationally recognised musicians who’ve been down to the bar to play or just to dig what the KSHB do include: Louis Cole, Guy Barker, Tcha Limberger, Bruno Major, Nitin Sawhney, Johnny O’Neal, Joe Stilgoe, Liv Dawson, Hal Hall, Kit Downes, Nick Mulvey, Judi Jackson, Laura Marling, Rhys Lewis, Beth Rowley, Alex Garnett, Michael Janisch, and Shingai Shoniwa. The Smitty’s scene is one of inclusion, built by music lovers for music lovers. The eclecticism in the KSHB’s sound is rooted in this diverse buzz around Smitty’s Bar. It’s the constant flow of people through their home that makes collaborating with artists ranging from Curtis Stigers to Kitty, Daisy And Lewis so easy for the band.

Smitty’s have also taken the show on the road. When they can, the band likes to bring their bar along with them. Takeovers at the Peckham Liberal Club, Stamford Works, The Vault Festival, four nights at the Cheltenham Jazz Festival and for an entire month at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival – where they programmed a series of concerts in their pop-up venue featuring Sons of Kemet, Swindle and Ska-legends Bad Manners alongside themselves.

With an exciting touring schedule, highlights of which include main stage shows at Love Supreme, Cornbury Festival, Boomtown, Goodlife Experience and a return to Shoreditch Town hall as part of London Jazz Festival the band look set to return by storm.

Jessica Lynn

In the last two years, the New York singer/songwriter has completed three highly successful nationwide tours of the United States and has seen her first two full length concert television specials, “This Much Fun – Live from the Winery at St. George,” and “Jessica Lynn – Takin’ Over – Live from The Paramount ” be met with rave reviews and seen by millions of viewers nationwide across America.

She has sung her country’s National Anthem twice in New York’s famed Madison Square Garden by special invite, signed a major publishing deal with publishing giant Round Hill Music that had her in Nashville writing with today’s top hit writers, and wrapped up three national summer tours sharing stages with Brad Paisley, Keith Urban, Tim McGraw, Hank Williams Jr., The Band Perry, Thompson Square, Jake Owen, Sammy Kershaw, Clint Black, Montgomery Gentry, Phil Vassar and others.

Last year, Jessica hit the road with country legend Jo Dee Messina for a west coast tour and recently had the honor of opening for the “Queen of Country Music” herself, Loretta Lynn.

Her high-energy and dynamic live show has garnered rave reviews from critics worldwide with the CBS Evening National News calling her a “Rocket Force.”

2016 saw Jessica on her first international tour in Canada and Europe and she released her debut self-titled EP. The first official music video and single from that EP, “Not Your Woman,” hit #1 for four weeks in a row on “The Iceman’s Top 40 New Country Chart.” The Iceman’s chart is the ONLY New Country Countdown show listed and recognized in the 2016 Country Music Association’s Industry Guide.

2017 will take Jessica and the band around the world once again with a busy schedule that includes a summer long European/UK tour in support of her brand new EP, “Look At Me That Way,”. The new EP produced and co-written in Belgium by acclaimed Producer Patrick Hamilton (Katherine Jenkins, David Garrett), includes three new cuts that will be making their way to UK and European radio this summer.

With their brand new single “Wicked Fever” Angelo Mammone (vocals) and Christian Steenken (guitar) seamlessly cement the success of their breakthrough hit “All We Are.” “Wicked Fever” is a road trip through the ins and outs of JONAH’s imagination, the ups and downs of their hearts. A dreamy, cerebral drift, the song keeps us on the brink with an urgent sense that something extraordinary is about to happen. Delve into this visceral soundtrack, composed and brought to life in the remote and wildly romantic landscape of Fuerteventura.

“The song is like that moment before a summer storm,” says front man Angelo Mammone, “when the air is aquiver with anticipation.”

In January 2015, in the remoter reaches of Fuerteventura, JONAH began writing the songs for “Wicked Fever.” Somewhere between the depths of the deep blue sea and the arid volcanic moonscape, with neither mobile nor email reception but for that their own antennae all the more finely tuned, the duo condensed the surreal ambience of the place into their slowed-down Indie sound: eleven Pop-Noir songs that emerge in the mind’s eye like grainy black and white Polaroids on the drift and sway of a compelling soundtrack that fires the imagination.

JONAH combine organic instruments with electronic elements, a synthetic filigree über-mood with the melancholic vocals of Angelo Mammone. And thus they cook up an inimitable and instantly recognisable acoustic aesthetic that is all their own: and at times bittersweet echo; a dramatically driven hybrid fusion of dream and reality, day and night, light and shadow; a kaleidoscope with a thousand facets in which lyrics, music, and sound converge.

“We worked in utter isolation for months to hone the right sound,” says Angelo, “And without trying to force anything. We wanted to let it grow, slowly but surely. The album title, “Wicked Fever,” reflects a hard-to-describe feeling, that sense of there being something in the air, palpable but impossible to pin down.”

JONAH consciously put in a good two years’ work to refine this debut album, determined to avoid the pitfalls of a rush-job long-player and the one-hit-wonder fame that often goes with it. Instead they calmly tuned in to their inner worlds, to fathom their own paths out. And this led the duo among other things to hugely acclaimed headliner tours on which they made their name all over Germany in 2015/16, also playing as support to Joris and Jimmy Eat World front man Jim Adkins.

Suicide Generation

SUICIDE GENERATION: London Trash Terrors Execute “1st Suicide” – Sign Two Album Record Deal with Dirty Water Records

It’s not even a year since a Colombian cretin and two neanderthals from New Zealand decided to inject a speedball of trash into the (once again) burgeoning London punk rock scene. The formula is beers, blues, deadbeat punk and telling the stories of a sick and twisted world. Add three buzzsaw guitars and exile the low strings and you have Suicide Generation.

Channeling the spirit and sounds of The Reatards, Gun Club, Pussy Galore, and GG Allin, they have exploded all over the city as one of the trashiest and most unpredictable bands around. Leading this suicide pact is the super-charged sickness of lead singer Sebastian Melmoth, who rips out his vocal chords whilst choking on the microphone, (coupled with chugging down pint glasses by the dozen ) along with the unseemingly steady balance of Emily Crowler’s snarling rhythm guitar, that forms the glue around a revolving door of delinquent players from all ages and walks of life.

After a rollercoaster twenty-five year career as an artist, curator and tastemaker, James Lavelle returns with UNKLE’s fifth studio album, The Road: Part 1 – a collection of fifteen new UNKLE tracks inspired by his curation of 2014’s Meltdown Festival at Southbank, their most successful to date. Following a technical error at the manufacturing plant, The Road: Part 1 will now be released on August 18th. Pre-order the album with exclusive bundles via Pledge Music.

The Road: Part 1 is a collective creative venture with musicians including London folk-rock artist and poet Keaton Henson, Primal Scream’s Andrew Innes, The Duke Spirit’s Liela Moss, long-time UNKLE collaborator Mark Lanegan and Mercury prize nominee ESKA. Lavelle also found new friends and collaborators in Queens of the Stone Age drummer Jon Theodore and Beck drummer Justin Stanley, who make definitive contributions throughout the record.

Recorded in UK, Europe and Los Angeles’ Pink Duck Studios, The Road: Part 1 is the product of a desire to create something fresh and innovative, that also celebrates the rich history of UNKLE, and showcases a new wave of talent such as Elliott Power, Mïnk and YSEÉ. The album also features long-term collaborators Philip Sheppard, Chris Goss, Twiggy and Troy Van Leeuwen.

The latest track from The Road: Part 1 , “Looking For The Rain”, – currently riding high on the BBC 6 Music Playlist – is a call to arms in our turbulent modern world written by Mark Lanegan with string arrangements by Will Malone (Massive Attack, Unfinished Symphony and UNKLE’s Lonely Soul amongst others). The video, by visual artist Doug Foster, was created by “filming a variety of subjects from nature, such as water, crystals and plants. The footage was composited in several stages to eventually form a moving tunnel of light that features synchronized repetition and bilateral symmetry.”

BERRIES have announced the release of their new single ‘Wild Vow’ – the first track taken from their second EP which sees the band further explore their unique take on riff-driven rock with even more grit and confidence. ‘Wild Vow’ boasts big riffs and chorus’s and further highlights the clever musicianship, weaving guitar and bass lines and well thought out drum patterns that this exciting three-piece are becoming known for.

BERRIES have had an infectious buzz around them ever since they dropped their first release ‘Lights’ last year, followed by singles ‘Waiting’ and ‘Siren’. Their tracks immediately caught the attention of BBC London Introducing and they were hastily invited into the studio for an interview with Gary Crowley who openly showed his support for the band urging listeners to “keep an ear and an eye out for them as they have a lot of promise!” The bands tracks have also received regular air play by Jim Gellatly and Shell Zenner on Amazing Radio and John Kennedy on Radio X.

Following the release of their debut EP ‘Those Funny Things’ the band were approached by a member of Fender’s A&R team who expressed his interest in their unique and energetic playing style. They were endorsed with new gear and included in a playlist of Fender’s ‘Top 10 favourite new acts’ alongside Bryde and featured on Richer Unsigned. Their song ‘Siren’ was then added to nationwide playlists in Richer Sounds stores, Samsung and Barclays. The band’s EP has been championed by Fred Perry Subculture, Gigslutz, Even the Stars and The Revue along with several other influential taste makers and blogs. ‘Wild Vow’ is their anticipated follow-up single.

Trip To Dover

A pianist fell in love with a punk girl. People said it wouldn’t last. It did.
They got married. Then they started a band… Trip to Dover

This indie-electro duo creates their own brand of alternative dance without losing the edge of a real indie-rock song – Guitar vs DJ. Man vs. Woman. Analog vs. Digital.
Or more poetically: “Dave Grohl’s twin sister meets a Chemical Brother at a concert of The Naked and Famous.”

Lord Dying

LORD DYING is one of the fastest rising bands in the contemporary, underground heavy metal scene. They will be hitting Southern California this summer on a Black Arrow Entertainment, Limited Engagement mini-tour.

Friday 7/7, Costa Mesa, CA – Tiki Bar

Saturday 7/8 San Diego, CA – The Merrow

Sunday 7/9 Los Angeles, CA – Bootleg Theater

Consisting of members of Black Elk, Portals, Le Force, Dark Castle, and Monarch, this quartet has set itself apart from the typical array of bands trying to out-sludge or out-doom each other. Instead, they prefer to stick to their own unique sound — coupling driving grooves with a heavy signature tone.

From the band: “We’re here to promote simpler things: heavy riffs, cold brews, and hot showers.”

Their first album, “Summon the Faithless”, debuted on Relapse Records in summer of 2013. This release was supported by back-to-back tours of the US which included an appearance at Phil Anselmo’s Housecore Horror Film Festival. In January 2014 Lord Dying went to Europe for the first time as support for Red Fang and The Shrine. They followed this with a successful headlining tour of the U.S. They went back to Europe which culminated with a performance at the acclaimed Roadburn Festival in Tilburg, Netherlands.

Upon their return to the U.S., longtime drummer Jon Reid left the band and they recruited Rob Shaffer of Dark Castle/Monarch. They immediately entered the studio to record their sophomore album with producer Joel Grind of Toxic Holocaust at the helm. In 2015, Lord Dying released “Poisoned Altars”, their most ambitious offering to date. This album offers melding spine-chilling riffs with a powerful rhythm section. This album — along with dynamic performances as support for such bands as Ghost, Red Fang, and Down — has brought Lord Dying to the forefront of the vibrant, underground heavy music scene.

Tree “Hold My Hand” is the powerful lead track from their new album “The Bridge and The Mountain” available on independent label Shebang Records. This 3 piece from South London have created a track full of lamentation and elegy. The vocal is vulnerable yet powerful, with a canorous of strings and guitars flowing through the track. The lyrics are delivered in an absorbing and heartfelt manner dealing with the troubled and little discussed trauma of adult loneliness and a disconnection from society. The band consist of Paul, Marizo and Markus who met at a venue in South London several years ago. Conversations, a mutual understanding and love of music ensued and soon after, studio time was booked for them to record their first single. Their combined love of gigging ensured that the music created would be a massive sound and suit a live arena. Their influences are heard with touch of MGMT, The Killers, Kings of Leon, Rush amongst others.

Young Lions

Having already teased the taste buds with the release of ‘Burn The Money’ in March, second single ‘Destroy Me’ in May and now the band’s third single ‘Out Of The Dark’, Brisbane rockers Young Lions are ready to release their brand new album, their first since January 2015, titled ‘Mr Spaceman’. What better way than to release it on a peak time on the Lunar Calendar – Tuesday August 8 2017 – the day Australia witnesses a partial lunar eclipse. Quite fitting for an album that follows a character on a journey into space.

The release of the band’s third album has been a long time coming but alas the time is near for this energetic and reputable three-piece that hail from Brisbane’s western suburbs. They are a band that is fast building momentum with two highly acclaimed albums already under their belt in the form of 2013’s ‘Burn’ and 2015’s ‘Blue Isla’ – an album that likened the band to 30 Seconds To Mars.

‘Mr Spaceman’ is about to change that. “For this album we decided to take a bit of a different approach as it follows a character on a journey into space to deal with all sorts of inter-dimensional learning curbs,” says singer Zach Britt. “Writing a concept album, in retrospect, was a way for us to push the boundaries and open our minds, lyrically and musically, so that we felt we could push the limits of what Young Lions is. Using space as a landscape for such a journey seemed a logical way for us to go”.

The journey on this album, from start to finish, is an experience. “All of our releases have been a little different but this one really came together as a whole. We have tried to mold the angst and passion of ‘Burn’ with the sensitivity and heart of ‘Blue Isla’ and I can proudly say we had a lot of success on this mission. It’s so exiting to think about people hearing this album because it really is just another progression on the Young Lions journey and anyone who has been with us from the start will NOT be disappointed”.

The band have earnt a very loyal legion of fans across the country not only from their own headlining shows across the country but also supporting the likes of Bayside, Hands Like Houses, Silverstein, Dream On Dreamer, Short Stack and more recently Red Jumpsuit Apparatus – to name a few.

Young Lions are not one to shy away from their performances having earnt a solid reputation for their live sets with Kill Your Stereo calling their recent performance supporting US rockers Bayside as “a stellar performance” and “a catchy and fervent set”.

Having formed in the early months of 2013, Zach Britt (Vocals), Morgan Castle (Bass) and Matt Gibson (Drums) created a band whose alternative edge has rapidly positioned them in the forefront of the rock genre. The release of ‘Burn’ in October 2013 was named “alternative Rock at its finest” and the title track earning them a spot on Triple J’s Short Fast Loud top 40 listener poll. The sophomore album ‘Blue Isla’ was released in January 2015 and was praised by Rolling Stone Magazine for the band’s “undeniable charm to the songwriting” and describing the fan-favourite track “You Are II” as a “a sonic adrenaline rush that rivals the best of 30 Seconds To Mars”.

How ecstatic are the band to finally release this album that’s been two years in the making? Putting it bluntly… “SO FRIGGGGGGEN SIKED!,” says Britt. “Honestly it has been a test to all our patience waiting for the right pieces of the puzzle to fall into place for the release of this project. So many highs and lows over the last year have definitely had us up against the wall at some points but it makes the final moments all the more sweeter. All I want to do is share this with people. I want everyone that has ears to hear this thing. I can’t explain how much I mean that.”

No Cigar

Hailing from Montana, No Cigar is an alternative rock band that blossomed from the inspiration and frustration of each member’s different life experiences.

Seeded by 3 years of heavy touring and recording with Colorado-based band the Photo Atlas, former drummer Nick Miles has now abandoned his place behind the drum kit to challenge himself as front-man on this new project. No Cigar fits right in between the catchy appeal of pop punk and the grit of early punk rock – a great compromise between the eclectic arrangements of Alkaline Trio and fresh hooks a la Rise Against.

The band thankfully strays from the over-produced aesthetics too often associated with the genre, following D.I.Y. ethics and self-producing their own material in order to achieve a more organic and personal sound, but also to be emotionally closer to their art and to the ideals behind this band.
